If there is one thing I am always banging on about it is that breaking free from the ‘shoulds’ is such powerful way to start living a life aligned with your own our dreams and values and not those expected of others.<br /><br />Here’s how to do it:<br /><br />1) Identify your ‘shoulds’ and examine why you feel that way. Where do they come from?<br /><br />2) Challenge your beliefs and consider alternative perspectives. Is this really your belief or that of your mother for example?<br /><br />3) Reframe your thinking in terms of what you want and value. Focus on what matters to you most and let go of what doesn’t.<br /><br />4) Set your intention for each day and stick with it.<br /><br />5) Practice self-compassion and don’t berate yourself if things haven’t gone as they ‘should’ have.<br /><br />FINALLY… drop the word should out of your vocabulary!
