🚨 BIG NEWS: Formula 1 is set for a change to the current active aero plans for the new regulations, coming into effect in 2026.

One path of the idea of active aero was to only have a movable rear wing due to the connection to DRS. However, some teams have tried the so-called ‘Fangio’ car model in the simulator and came out with concerning results.

Sources say that when the rear wing was in its lowest downforce configuration, the car was undrivable with drivers spinning on straights when accelerating. Losing the rear on high speed corner exit was also very common apparently.

This comes due to the shift of aero balance that is estimated to be three times as much as currently experienced with DRS open.

Recently FIA representatives were visiting team’s facilities to get a better understanding of the issue. According to sources, the conclusion has been reached that the movable aero plan will not work with only the rear wing configuration.

The FIA decided to change the active aero plan and use both the front and the rear wing. So both will move. If this change delivers the performance characteristics hoped for, this change will come into effect.
