Am Samstag, 27.04.24 fand der Maissauer Sporttag statt. Am Vormittag wurde bei optimalen Wetterbedingungen ein 2/4 Duathlon Double classic (6,6 km Lauf, 29 km Radfahren, 3,3 km Lauf) ausgetragen. Die Veranstaltung in Maissau war gleichzeitig die österreichische Staatsmeisterschaft sowie die NÖ Landesmeisterschaft im Duathlon. Das Starterfeld war demnach sehr stark besetzt. Vom RC Raiba Kosmopiloten standen Michael Gaubitzer und Christina Kastner am Start. Michael belegte mit einer Zeit von 1:21:31 den Platz 13./225. In der AK holte er sich den Sieg. 🇫🇷 - Val d’Argenton - Final Day done ✔️ - Day 4️⃣! The first round of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy is over and the day ended in a way nobody could have expected. Vanesa Silkunaite, our young winner of the FIA Girls on Track selection 2023, showed incredible form. The track was dry and the weather was perfect, providing ideal conditions for Vanesa to push during the race. During the Prefinal, Vanesa impressed everyone by making significant gains on the track. In the final, she continued to perform exceptionally well until an unexpected turn of events. While fighting for the ninth position halfway through the race, she received a technical flag because her hair had come out of her race suit or helmet! It was an unbelievable situation that forced her to abruptly end her race. Despite the disappointment, Vanesa showed great sportsmanship and resilience. Her determination and talent are undeniable. Well I survived back to back races this weekend. It was actually pretty fun... We ran the Mississauga half marathon today and @lia6314 had a fantastic race. She ran a PB for the half marathon distance which was pretty cool. My legs were still pretty sore from running Pick your Poison 50km the day before so it was a challenge keeping up with her at the beginning until my legs got working again. If you want to run a hard 50k race in Ontario definitely check it out @pickyourpoisonon . Something like 1730m of vert over 4 loops mostly on single track that gets very slick when it rains all day... I didn't get a PB but ran hard and had a great race 5:53 I'll take it. Taking 2 days off from running to recover then off to Florida for a vacation. Looking forward to running some flat roads in the heat☀️ #runfar #keepmoving #ultrarunner #race

Cracking HIKING miles with @mikecocoonbar yesterday! After the success of our non stop yomp for the @mndassoc from #exmouth to #weymouth in 2021 we had set our sights on getting back out on the trails for a walk. Things aligned and we got back out there yesterday for a hike between #gillinghamdorset and #dinton. We set off from Gillingham Train Station and got stuck into the trails. Things got quickly soggy underfoot and by the end of the second mile we were squelching! Passing a few historical monuments, hillforts and castles we managed to (mostly) hit the right paths. A few corrective adjustments along busy roads and under barbed wire fences aside we did ok on the nav. A short interruption for a hair raising spooky experience with a disappearing path user had us questioning our sanity for a while. Passing by the @jamesmaybloke owned The Royal Oak pub (soz) we continued on to the @thecompasses for a swift reviving pint of @estrelladamm_uk (the best on tap beer IMHO and available through your local sales rep). Rounding off through #dintonpark we hit the end of the trail. A great time on foot with a top mate. My first time running @stlawrencemarathon in Cornwall! It was an amazing race day! Half marathon start time was 0900 so we drove down early @deborah.runsherfast @matthewtimms and @ottawarunner which was super fun! We had loads of friends running and cheering so it was a huge party atmosphere before, during, and after the race. A bunch of folks were pushing for specific goals. @deborah.runsherfast and I decided to follow a progression run race plan rather than a specific time goal. We started with a 5:35 min/km pace, increasing at specific milestones until we were running a 4:45 pace the last 5km. It worked out really well! The last 7ish kms were hard but we pushed through and finished strong! It was really cool to run together. I’ve never done that before. The conversation was great and the kms were flowing, although at some point in the race when things got hard we stopped talking hahaha! It was also great to be able to cheer each other on and keep focused. I had a stitch a couple diff times, a problem that dogs me through a lot of races. I do some deep breathing that helps but mostly it goes away when it’s ready. By 14kms or so my legs were feeling it and OMG so sore by the end! I suspect that’s because I don’t run a lot of weekly kms in my training. Not a problem for my 5k races but for 21k it hits me. The course was a mix of long flats and rolling hills, along the water and through trees or road. It was awesome cheering all the familiar faces with the out-n-back format! Seeing friends crushing their races was so awesome! There were people cheering all along the course including friends snapping pics and yelling encouragement. Thanks @tracyshouldice and @erica.in.nature for the photos! The best part about races is always the running community! People show up to run or cheer, volunteer or organize, and it’s amazing to enjoy all of that on race day! Props to the @arboretumhillclub squad for the best cheering and after race eats in the park! This race was really well organized and clearly a favourite for many people. I had so much fun and will be back! Thank you Cornwall!
