Told from the perspective of four young Latina girls of different generations, this book is the poignant exploration of Jewish displacement across the span of over 500 years. The story starts in Spain and ends in Miami with stops in Turkey and Cuba and dives deep into the world of forced migration of the Jewish community. Readers get to meet four strong females each on a quest for belonging, standing on the shoulders of their ancestors and united by love and music.
It’s a story about family, grief, immigration, women’s freedom, exile, friendship, faith and perseverance. So many themes packed into this neat little package. I just LOVE how it all came together in the very end and know you will enjoy learning about this important history as well.
