𝐈𝐓 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 - 𝐁𝐲𝐞 𝐁𝐲𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐦: I suffer from rosacea-prone skin, so I was beyond excited to be able to test out this serum as I am continuously on the hunt for products to help minimize the redness on my face. I have been using this serum for a few weeks and have been super impressed with the results. The serum is a creamy green colour, which helps with instantly neutralizing redness. I don’t get much of a scent from it. It feels a bit tacky at first but seems to be absorbed quickly. It is super gentle on my sensitive skin. I also find it calming and soothing upon application. While it hasn’t gotten rid of my redness completely and I still obviously have rosacea flare-ups, I’ve definitely noticed an overall reduction in redness, which is a for sure win in my books! I will continue to use it in my skincare regimen and will definitely repurchase it when it runs out. I loved the multiple pov's, the short chapters & rhe mystery thats built up around the events of 15 years ago. It's dark & tense with so many twists especially at the end. It keeps you guessing the whole way through & I'd no idea how it would all tie up! I loved all the mystery around the legend & folklore of the birds too. There was such an eery vibe that was carried throughout the story & kept me wanting more! There were characters I loved (Eddie) & characters I hated (you'll know once you read it 😂) but even the unlikeable characters were excellent. This book is out on 6th June & if you love a good thriller, add this one to your list! I had so much fun making this backpack! I posted a reel of it last night, but always like to have a still image on the feed too of my finished makes. I used the lighter colours from a #FavoriteFlowersFabric charm pack making some small square patchwork to combine with this gorgeous canvas for giant half square triangles! It's the #DesmondBackpack by @taylortailor with a few modifications. I decided to quilt the outer to the lining so I bound the inside seams instead of a separate lining. I also added a laptop pouch on the inside because I'd use that more than the pockets in the pattern. I only added one side pocket that I made a little bigger and pleated at the bottom to fit a water bottle better. I also added a couple inches to the top so it has more roll to the roll top. And finally my clips for the front were going to be upside down so I attached the set part to the front and it's the top straps that adjust! This is a fun pattern and fairly easy to adapt if you want to change it up! I can't wait to use it on our trip to Amsterdam in a few weeks so I'm sure you'll see more photos of it in action! Beacon Beast Marathon Slightly over marathon distance multi-terrain challenge with some amazing views to remember. A unique figure of eight route based on the Bodmin Way incorporating five very different churches supporting runners along the way. Over 3000ft of elevation on the course makes this a tough marathon and makes you feel like you’ve really earnt your medal. I really enjoyed this YA book and thought it was so heartfelt. Playing for Keeps was a sweet sapphic sports romance featuring a June and Ivy. This is an enemies to lovers with a hint of forbidden love mixed in. I found this book to be perfect for the intended YA audience. What I enjoyed most about this book is that there was more to this book than just the rom-com plot. Each character was dealing with some form of grief and I loved how the author wove that into the plot so beautifully and perfectly. 🎧I alternated between the physical book and the audiobook, narrated by both Daisy Guevara and Bailey Carr. This was my first time listening to both of these narrators, and I really enjoyed my time listening to them bring Ivy and June to life. I don't read poetry often but I am a big fan of Daragh Fleming's writing and look forward to reading his work. This is quite a short book, just over fifty pages filled with moving and inspiring poetry that has something for everyone to relate to. I find the author's writing very relatable. The poems and thoughts expressed stay with me for long after I finish reading. The author's poetry is work you can dip in and out of and revisit at any point. It was a 5 🌟 read for me. Finally wrapped up over a week’s worth of painting (and repainting) and just have to give big thank you @handypaintpail for making this job easier on me! I was #gifted the handy pro-go bucket which has become my handy to-go tool bucket. This bucket is just the perfect size for me! I also received the handy paint tray with liners which, honest review, is the best on the market. The tray has button holes where the liner attaches into so that the liner doesn’t move all around while you’re trying to paint! The tray also has a magnet at the end of it to hold your paint brush! Last, but certainly not least, the handy paint cup! This cup is essential for edging walls. The size is perfect for holding while balancing on a ladder and again, Handy covered all bases by adding the magnet inside the cup to hold your paint brush as you climb up and down your ladder! 🌟𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪🌟 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗬 𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗨𝗠 is a fun enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, slow burn, spicy romcom. Gretchen pretends she's a medium but when she's hired to rid a goat farm of ghosts, it turns out she can actually communicate with the one "haunting" it. The challenge becomes how to convince sceptic hot farmer Charlie that his ancestor Everett (the aforementioned ghost) is real in order to keep him out of danger. The conversations between Gretchen and Everett (who would be over 100 years old but is stuck in his 20s) were hysterical and I loved all of the pop culture references (he's obsessed with watching TV). I had a harder time with Gretchen and Charlie. 𝘔𝘳𝘴. 𝘕𝘢𝘴𝘩'𝘴 𝘈𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘴 was one of my favorite books of 2023 so I came into this with really high expectations, especially around the depth of the characters. Millie and Hollis had so many layers, and I didn't find the same with Gretchen and Charlie. She has unresolved issues with her dad that I thought would play out more, and Charlie's relationships with his grandfather and father felt superficial. The pacing also threw me a bit. The book also takes place over the course of a month and a lot happens; I felt like the first half took too long to get to where we knew it was going. That being said, the dialogue, the humor and all things Everett make this worth a read. Do not miss the author's note where Adler explains how the concept came about (the original title is epic!). Tanita 💚 Soooo many options with this gorgeous Fibre Mood fabric from @polytexstoffen I already showed you my Pax trousers, but the fabric makes a perfect top as well! In Fibre Mood 28 you will find the Malia top in this fabric. I chose to make a simplified Tanita from my leftover fabric. Tanita is easy-peasy as it is, but I made it even easy-peasier by omitting the elastic tunnels for the sleeves. I also lengthened the top about 10 cms. The fabric by Polytex is a lightweight woven jacquard (120g/m2) which is perfect for warmer days. It’s a 68% viscose, 18% nylon and 14% linen blend which means it’s soft, breezy and less likely to wrinkle. My first thought seeing this cover was romance especially when I read a destination wedding on the Turks And Caicos was at the center. But this was not romance in the strictest sense, and definitely not romcom - it’s a story of unrequited love, it is also a story about mental health written by an author who is open about her own struggles with bipolar disorder. This background made me careful with this story because I have lived my life as the child of someone with that same disorder but it has been handled delicately and accurately here, I just needed the courage to start reading ! Out since March 5th ! Dee, Matt, and Misa met a year prior to this story taking its start when they were patients in a psych ward. Now, Matt and Misa are getting married which is causing Dee to spin out. Dee is in love with Matt (and has been for the past year). They’ve both been each other’s rock when they were at their lowest. Her feelings are unrequited and she doesn’t want to lose him. Through flashbacks we watch the relationship between Dee and Matt develop and begin to understand why she feels the way she does about him but also see where things went wrong ... feeling needed and being loved is not the same thing. But, it’s easy to get confused about love and being a crutch or an enabler. Friendship with Misa is another big point in this story, where did things go so wrong ?? Not wanting to ruin the special day for her two friends, Dee is torn on how to deal with her feelings for Matt while trying to be happy for Matt and Misa. With her sister Tillie the biggest advocate for telling the truth and the advice and support of various people she meets at this destination wedding it’s up to Dee to decide what’s right for her even if it means that she’s going to have to risk her friendship. Heartbreaking at times and lighthearted at others this story about friendship, the relationship between sisters, acceptance, and love was definitely a worthy read !
