I got a call from our vet today that someone had surrendered a 24hr old kitten to them. Apparently her siblings died, mom had abandoned this little one, and the finder wasn’t able to care for her. Since I’m right up the road within 15min she was back at The Ranch and snuggled up in an incubator. Her body temp was critically low, but a few hours in the easy-bake got her warmed up and ready to eat. She’s taken tube feedings really well and is an active and loud little bean, all happy signs for a kitten with a rough start.

Once I felt she was ready I introduced her to momma Aries and right away she was taken into her little family. Seeing cats adopt kittens will never not get me misty eyed!! This new baby is a week younger than her adoptive siblings, which is quite a gap at this stage of development, but she’s throwing elbows to get milkies so I’m not too worried. Having a momma to clean her and warm siblings to cuddle with are worth the risks. I’m still pulling her every two hours for weight checks and supplemental feedings until I know she’s gaining independently. She’s not out of the woods yet, but for the day she’s had she’s doing pretty well. Keep her in your thoughts, she needs the good vibes.

#orphankitten #kittenseason #adoptivemom #spayandneuteryourpets #ifyoufeedthemfixthem #neonatalkittens #criticalcare
