This painting, “Golden Ocean Reflection Sting Ray,” is complete. It’s the final image. The inspiration to paint a stingray has been on my mind for a long time, stemming from my numerous encounters with these magical ocean creatures, also known as the angels of the ocean. While studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, I went on a trip with my parents to Florida during spring break. One day, while swimming in the ocean, a stingray began to play with me in the water, creating a magical experience. I swam alongside it for a while, feeling a deep connection. Unaware of the stingray’s poisonous tail, I innocently grabbed it by the tail and swam with it to show my parents, before returning it to the ocean. This encounter further fueled my intense connection to the ocean and its creatures, inspiring me to paint this genre, capturing the beauty and magic of nature in my art.
