Back from a long planned USA Deep South road trip where we covered 2000 miles stopping in 9 locations over 3-weeks; plenty of music, plenty of shopping, and plenty of relaxing.
Too many moments but highlights include; the Chattanooga Choo Choo / drinking JD in the Lynchburg distillery / buying boots (& beers) in Nashville / seeing a show at the Grand Ole Opry / Peabody ducks and Beale St / Jazz on a Mississippi steamboat / shrimp Po’boys in the French Quarter / sunbathing on the white sands of the Gulf Coast.
But of course the biggest highlight and main focus of the trip was a pilgrimage to Gracelands.
Along the way we met the most friendly and hospitable people who were openly proud of their towns / States and more than happy to give advice and recommendations to a bunch of dopey Brits (and our accents were only mistaken for Australian twice 🤣).
Also had the bizarre good fortune to be in Nashville when the Premiership were holding an event which meant I got to watch West Ham beat Wolves on a big screen from an open roof restaurant whilst eating a bacon waffle ⚽️
Planning the next trip for a few years time - West Coast USA possibly?
(Btw a US pint is smaller than in the UK & bartenders don’t seem to care if they don’t fill the glass to the top - but if that’s all I can moan about it can’t be too bad 🤣)
