Our day kicked off at the Bone Caves. The hike to the bone caves is a 2.5 mile walk through a limestone valley. The caves were given the name ‘Bone Caves’ due to the skeletal remains of Brown Bears, Lynx, Reindeer and Polar bears found there.
After that, we headed to Corrieshalloch Gorge. The dramatic gorge was created by glacial meltwater. A suspension bridge guides you above the mile long gorge. From here you can view the Falls of Measach falling into the river Droma. Its name meaning ‘ugly hollow’ – I can say it’s quite the opposite! The dark, humid gorge walls are the perfect habitat for ferns and moss to thrive.
We then drove towards Torridon and had to give the old chap Callum the Stag a visit! He was abandoned by his herd so had remained close to the car park ever since. We’re so happy we were able to see him🥰 He is a Red deer that grabs the attention of everyone that sees him!
We ended up at a park4night overlooking Loch Shieldaig. And what a joy it was to stay at! We saw a fighter jet and a golden eagle whilst we were there! And may we just say… the sunset was spectacular 😍
