Ingredients:
1 lb fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced ๐
2 cups all-purpose flour ๐พ
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt ๐ง
4 tbsp sugar, plus 1 tsp for sprinkling ๐
6 tbsp cold butter, cubed ๐ง
2/3 cup milk ๐ฅ
1 cup heavy cream, whipped ๐ถ
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425ยฐF (220ยฐC). ๐ก๏ธ
In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, 4 tbsp sugar, and salt. Add cold butter and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. ๐ฅฃ
Gradually add milk to form a soft dough. ๐ฅ
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet and sprinkle with 1 tsp sugar. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden. ๐
Allow to cool slightly. Split the shortcakes in half and layer with whipped cream and sliced strawberries. ๐ฐ๐
Top with more whipped cream and strawberries, and serve immediately. ๐
