Burgh Island! Writing spot of Agatha Christie, only island hotel in the uk accessible by foot or tractor (or kayak apparently but didn’t attempt this one 😂) this is an eclectic trip to say the least.
The Burgh Island Hotel was built in the late 1800s and updated twice in the 20th century.
It’s very easy to see how this island was an inspiration to many writers but of course especially Agatha Christie. She wrote Evil Under the Sun and the novel that is now And Then There Were None here. They’ve filmed BBC adaptations and ITV poirot episodes here.
Take a pair of wellies to make sure you can get across the beach without the tractor but I absolutely recommend a trip to the island if you’re in the area!
