According to Statistik Austria, only 17% of students at technical colleges are female.
In computer science, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering studies, the proportion of women only amounts to 10-12%.
According to the SORA Institute, only 15% of women work in qualified technical professions.
No wonder girls as young as age 6 believe that boys are better at math and logic.
And why, because unfortunately parents and kindergarten staff/teachers reinforce this belief in girls.
More women in tech would be a win-win for everyone: McKinsey writes, if companies in Europe were to double the share of women in the tech workforce to about 45 percent by 2027, GDP could get a boost of as much as €260 billion to €600 billion
All the more reason to celebrate the #Boostcamp of #thenewITgirls around Astrid Wieland Doris Schlaffer and Kristina Maria Brandstetter together with Julia Katovsky etc Enterprise Training Center and Microsoft to pave the way for women into IT.
