I just finished reading Alex Tunzelmann's Indian Summer about India's journey to independence. It was an eye opener in more ways than one. It cemented some of my views about the origins of India as a country and thoroughly shook some others. While I highlighted several passages as I was reading it, this one pictured below, towards the very end, resonates the most. Although the book was written in 2007, the passage holds more meaning now than ever, as the country goes to the polls and the future hangs in the balance.
