My soul is burned alive… by the excitement I feel for my all-French concert at @therendezvous.rocks in Seattle on June 22nd!
I’ve really been feeling so inspired by this incredible song by @officialqueenmusic - Queen was such an important part of my upbringing. Listening to Freddie Mercury was a catalyst that made me want to be a singer, and I often tell people that Queen was my gateway drug to opera. Everyone finds their own path to opera; you don’t have to be taught in a prestigious conservatoire or be a nepo baby. I overcame many hardships (including people in my life who delighted in my downfall when I was bullied out of the voice program in college) and funded the continuation of my own musical education through private study by becoming a phlebotomist. Literal blood, sweat, and tears is what brought me here, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
On April 20th I sang in front of 450 people and didn’t freak out. My normal crippling stage fright was gone. She is vanquished. Now I can face anything.
I’m still standing. The show must go on!
