I am no longer double, triple and quadruple booking and working with two associates and here’s why…. It stresses me the f out and it causes me too much pain. I suffer from chronic pain as well so at the end of my days I’m literally in tears. After many years of doing 2-5 clients at a time I’m burnt out. Like BURNT OUT. Hit rock bottom then found rock bottoms basement. I just can’t do it anymore. And my clients deserve more of ME. 🤍 Running two associates at a time has also been extremely challenging. Don’t get me wrong I have been INCREDIBLY BLESSED with EVERY SINGLE ONE of my associates behind the chair. They truly have been incredible and a HUGE part of my success. But now my focus is building one at a time stronger than I have ever built a stylist before. They truly deserve that. They are our future. I am still currently excepting new clients but only now Wednesday and Friday mornings and Thursday afternoons. I had the privilege of photographing Between the Buried and Me (@btbamofficial) during their two-part Colors show in Seattle, and it was an experience I won’t soon forget. The technicality, heaviness, and dynamism of their performance were absolutely stunning, making them one of my favorite bands to photograph and listen to. Still amazed by our recent 3-day trip, where our achachan @san_mathewss drove nearly 1000 miles for us, insisting on being the sole one behind the wheel out of his love for driving. Washington, often known for its rainy weather, surprised us during this journey. Just as God halted the sun and the moon for Joshua during battle, the rain ceased for those 3 days, blessing us with warm, sunny weather. Kids, if they’re raised in a healthy fashion, experience structure, rules, and consequences (positive and negative) in order to learn how to best navigate our challenging world. Infants simply have needs that must be attended to. They don’t experience structure, rules, and accountability at this stage of development because… that wouldn’t serve their needs. Lots of folks bristle when I say I don’t mind owners calling their dogs their kids—and I don’t—as long as the label used reflects what it purports to reflect. But if “kids” is working as cover for dysfunctional behavior—treating dogs as infants—we’ve parted ways. Of course there’s lots of reasons why us humans would engage in behavior that is so detrimental to our dogs (and kids), but the primary reason is a selfish one—and that would be the dopamine drenched euphoric feeling we experience when we indulge in babying, coddling, spoiling, and un-ending affection. The immediate payoff of what we get to feel, and the immediate payoff of seeing how our dogs (and kids) respond to what appears on the surface to be a selfless act of giving, is actually a longterm act of stealing. And because I know you know, I’ll let you fill in all the ways that the *stealing* manifests. ❤️
