Why it’s on my list: Did you know that there is a castle on the 1,000 islands? Did you also know that if you’re Canadian, you need a passport to visit it? Construction began on Boldt Castle in 1900 by millionaire George C. Boldt as a tribute to his wife Louise. Boldt Castle was meant to be their summer dream home. Unfortunately, Mrs. Boldt passed away suddenly just months before it was completed. We had the most amazing day on Friday - we set out for a hike through Noosa National Park, just to do a bit of a walk. Found ourselves a nice 4km out-and-back hike to a beach, but when we got there the heavens opened. Cue me getting bitten by mosquitoes whilst the husband was grumbling that we didn't turn back when he saw the black clouds 🤣 Luckily the rain stopped after about 20 minutes and we wandered onto the most beautiful beach!! My son bobbed around in the sand for a while before we decided to hike back along the coast instead of back the way we came through the forest. It turned out to include 161 steps (I counted), which wasn't the easiest whilst carrying a baby in 28 degree heat (though I had it easier than my husband carrying our rucksack and three-year-old 🤣), but it was so worth it.
