his Sunday, 26 May, will see Discover Groomsport's BIG Community Picnic event (2pm-5pm) and Cockle Row Cottages will be taking part in the fun (2pm-4pm)! Pack your picnic and head to this quiet and pretty seaside village for the afternoon where you can enjoy FREE activities at the cottages between 2pm and 4pm. Soda bread will be cooking over the griddle and for those keen to explore more of this special place, pick up the new Sense Trail. Local community group, Discover Groomsport, funded by @ardsandnorthdownboroughcouncil, will be hosting live music and singing at the seashore location, as well as crab fishing from the harbour, crafts in the boathouse and some tasty treats, 2pm-5pm. Mount Stewart, nel Distretto di Ards, in Irlanda del Nord, è stato per 250 anni la casa della famiglia Londonderry. La proprietà venne acquistata nel 1774 da Alexander Stewart, padre di Robert primo marchese di Londonderry e subì ingrandimenti in seguito alla crescente importanza e ricchezza della famiglia, ma fu soprattutto Edith, moglie del settimo marchese, a darle la sua impronta. Charles Londonderry fu un importante uomo politico e la famiglia riceveva spesso ospiti importanti, come Winston Churchill (che era suo cugino). La casa ha oltre 20 stanze da letto! Fu Edith a ridisegnare gli splendidi giardini, che grazie al microclima del luogo, ospitano piante provenienti da tutto il mondo e fioriscono in ogni periodo dell'anno.
