OK my friends… let’s talk Turkish Spas… Typically when visiting at a resort I will do a “spa inspection” because I am not one to “spend that kind of money.” But I always go look and see and take photos. When we got here, they did not offer photo tours… BUT the pricing was incredible… so, I guess we had to do that thing… 90 minute spa package to finish our day. This included Sauna, Hammam, and a full body message. Hammam I just went with, then found out it’s a Turkish Bath. Let me tell you… this is just as much of a must as the hot air balloons and the cave hotels. There is something about the beautiful bath house (it was very private), the incredible soaps, and the 6 inches of bubbles that made this an experience that was simply unforgettable. (And y’all… I’m not typically one brag about a bath… BUT a lot of you asked before I came here… am I gonna do it!) The whole experience was like nothing else and simply fantastic. After a week of hustle and business, it was just what we needed. So… when I send you to Cappadocia, and tell you I’m sending you 3,000 feet in the air in a balloon, you’re sleeping in a cave, and you must enjoy a Turkish bath… GURL… just say “Yep… sign me up… and don’t forget the camel ride!” #adventurecoach #gurligotyou #andyourfella

What’s a decision that you have NEVER regretted or second guessed? One of mine? Moving to Brighton. I always knew I wanted to live by the sea, it was an important goal for me, I just didn’t know exactly where. And I’ve found such a wonderful home here. A community of incredible friends and a lot of diversity in so many ways. There’s almost anything and everything that you could wish for here, no matter who you are or what your passions are. So, tell me your ‘no regrets’ decision? I’m intrigued 😁😁 #confidence #innercritic #impostersyndrome #coaching #leadership #executivecoach #successcoach #calm #purpose #selfdoubt #challenge #executiveadventurer #womenwhoadventure #adventure #outdoors #development #adventureawaits #adventurecoach #success #change #positive #motivation

My Mum often told me, and still will say, that you cannot control how other people treat you, but you can control how you react to it. It's one of the truest things I've heard. We can't control others, and shouldn't even try. How they choose to behave, to act or to speak to or treat us is not ours. But how we react, how we act and how we respond is all us. Take control of yourself, your emotions and your actions. Don't waste them by allowing them to be under someone else's control. After all, you are yours, and yours alone. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ExtremeSportsCoach #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #northcape4000

Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome. You must carefully consider you goals, and ensure that you are chasing well formed outcomes. But: if you over-examine every possible reason why not to do something, you will never attempt, never mind achieve, anything great. Think it through, but once you have an opinion, over examination is paralysing. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ExtremeSportsCoach #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #northcape4000

Your brain will constantly rewire itself to suit what you are feeding it. If you are continuously gossiping, complaining, finding excuses etc your brain will make it very easy for you to find things to be upset about and complain about, regardless of what is happening around you. However, if you constantly search for opportunities, abundance, love and things to feel grateful for, it will make it much easier to find these things around you. This takes a lot of practice, but deliberately forcing yourself into a more positive mindset and not allowing the gremlin on your shoulder to get too loud or overtake your thoughts is a very effective way to change your reality for the better. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ExtremeSportsCoach #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #northcape4000

When choosing your goals, big and small, it is crucial not to focus too much on the "trophies." Trophies are not just.. trophies though! Don't choose goals based on what you can show other people. Picking something because you know that other covet or value it, or because you think it will impress is a straight path to dissatisfaction. You will never be satisfied by achieving a goal, regardless of hard it was or how of you it took to achieve if you didn't chase it for yourself, for your own memories and your own assignment of value. If you are lucky enough to get to old age, you are unlikely to be proud of the things you did for the approval of others. But the memories of working towards a goal that was so audacious that it too all of you just to reach it? Those memories and that pride will last forever. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ExtremeSportsCoach #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #northcape4000

This is the first mountain I did completely by myself. I remember being so scared that I would get lost, that I would get cold and that I would that people would think I was a right loner going by myself. If you look closely I am wearing a vest top better suited for a day sat in the park or a pub garden with friends. If you look closely I have skiing socks and boots on that would be better suited for to a expedition in the Arctic circle. If you look closely, you can also see a sparkle in my eyes. I felt a sense of achievement different to what I had felt before. I stopped waiting for people to go with an learnt that I can do these things by myself. I want everyone that wants to climb a mountain to climb the mountain. I don’t want fear, self-doubt or lack of ability to stand in your way. You deserve it. He said a few smart things that Buddha.... Do not seek happiness, meaning or salvation from anyone else. YOU master your own fate. Those who lean their happiness on other people, or their sense of purpose are destined to have what they are leaning on pulled from under them. This doesn't mean don't rely on anyone, and it doesn't mean do not enter into meaningful relationships. But it does mean to seek your own happiness, and your own meaning rather than put it onto another person. Be stronger than that. Be your own saviour. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

It's what you have inside that makes the difference. Not what you have, not how you look. Those who consider themselves a success based on what labels or possessions they own, or what filtered pictures they put on the internet are sorely mistaken as to what life means and are likely setting up for a fall. WHO are you? Have you the will, tenacity and fighting spirit it takes to move forward? If not, lets get it. The BeWild Membership is the membership I wish that I had had 8 years ago when I started having my own adventures. Being a ‘wild child’ I had always felt the need to get my thrills from somewhere. When I found the great outdoors, I suddenly saw how I could channel this to something healthy and empowering. The doors are open to the membership currently and I would love to welcome those people eager to embrace their inner ‘wild child’ and find freedom through adventure. Link in bio or stories ☺️

There is significant difference between feeling lost, and actually being lost. People commonly say that they are lost, have lost themselves etc. It's also surprisingly common to hear someone say "I don't know who I am." When you go through a process of working with someone who describes themselves as lost, they often come back to the same place they started, only to discover they had most of the answers they needed. When it comes to being physically lost or displaced in the mountains, one of the very first things we teach someone to do is to identify and ensure that they are facing the right way. It is very possible to be in the right place, but feeling lost because you are looking in the wrong direction! You DO know who you are. You know exactly who you are. You may not like who you are, but it doesn't change that you know. Once you establish this, if you want to be different, to change aspects of yourself, this becomes easy. You aren't lost, you're just looking the wrong way. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

It really is all about consistency. It's not about a couple of hard effort boot camps, or starting then stopping then starting then stopping training. It's not about doing weird and wonderful things for instagram. You just have to work. No, that's not another "Work hard all the time especially at 3am" posts because that's nonsense. Consistent, good effort will get you far. PURPOSE Everybody should have a purpose in life, but most people aren't interested. Finding or discovering your purpose can be an involved task and it needs to lead on from understanding your own functionality. That's not to say its a difficult task, just that it takes time. You can start understanding purpose, and finding it by thinking of the purpose of your goals. We all form and think of goals, but rarely consider what the purpose of that goal is to us (unless it's to make money or contribute to a large goal on the horizon). Consider your goals / well formed outcomes and ask yourself: For what purpose? Do this for each of your chosen goals and outcomes. Then review it and think about the answers. Do you goals have real purpose for you? Are you giving them that purpose? Or are you following the crowd? Or some internal direction that has not yet been considered? #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

If you want to understand, ACT. To learn effectively, we need to take action. We must engage and we must practice what we learn to ensure that it becomes a natural part of us. The learning is in the doing. Don't be the person who always has "intentions" or reads around a subject without taking the time and effort to understand it. True comment isn't it? The harder you have had to try to achieve something, the more satisfaction there is when you accomplish it. Trying easy things (this is relative: easy for you) won't give the real feeling of accomplishment. Sure, it will give you something too boast about on social media, but that's meaningless anyway. Trying something hard, and achieveing it against the odds. That's real victory. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

IDENTITY 3of3 The important thing when really looking at, and wanting to change, your identity is stop just allowing your unconscious to rule your mind. If you take responsibility for your life and your thoughts you begin to see the core elements of your identity and begin the process of choosing what you want. Write down and answer the following questions (with one or two word answers): - Who am I? I am....... (x5) - What am I? I am a.......(x5) - What do I choose to live with? I choose to live with...... (x5) Really consider the answers to these and note that a lot of people, when asked these questions will consider and describe what they DO, not who they are. Don't be that person. Clearly, describing this process in a social media post is very limited, but if you have questions (or answers) then drop us a DM and we'll point you in the right direction. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

Being a human is painful. I have this perverse benefit of having been through so much awful pain in my life that I can write this ⬆️ (in a text in reply to my friend) and feel that it is true. So much of what we’re sold is really ill-disguised attempts at saying: “hey! I can make your pain GO AWAY if you do/buy X Y Z!” Which is why I can’t ever say that. People have asked me for guarantees - I haven’t ever given them. But what I DO know is this: doing work such as that in a programme with me, WILL help you: 💫 see yourself more clearly… 💫 with more acceptance… 💫 more kindness… 💫 more love.. 💫 more peace 💫 learn tools to help you navigate the tough stuff 💫 which will result in more self-belief. And THAT ⬆️ feels like what we sometimes call ‘confidence’. And from THAT place, who knows what might be possible for you? Freedom awaits 💫 [screenshot of text says: “Theres a lot of power in acceptance. Once we realise that we may always carry a level of pain, but it won’t always be so hard or ping us so fiercely (very similar to grief), then I think we can come more gently at working with it. “It’s the conclusion I came to in/ after my therapy over the last year - instead of trying to fix (which isn’t possible) and I KNEW it wasn’t possible to fix (cos l’m not broken) or fully heal, I STILL wanted it! And was annoyed that that didn’t happen “Instead, I accepted myself, the pain, etc and accepted that sometimes it will feel heavier and harder and then I will always (and I do mean always) move through it, even though it feels awful and I don’t have to like it.”] #confidence #innercritic #impostersyndrome #coaching #leadership #executivecoach #successcoach #calm #purpose #selfdoubt #challenge #executiveadventurer #womenwhoadventure #adventure #outdoors #development #adventureawaits #adventurecoach #success #change #positive #motivation

IDENTITY Following on from yesterday. You start to build your identity at about 2 years old. Up to the age of about 6/7 we start to develop an identity, but this largely based on the information we receive from those around us. We see and take on board how and what we see others close to us doing. At about 7 yeas old, we start to develop an internal dialogue and we star to question ourselves. So the things that we have taken on board and emulated from others start to mixed with our own thoughts and experiences. By the time we reach 12/13, we have an idea of whop we are meant to be. We then develop through out teenage years as we have more experiences to shape us. It should be clear here thought that the early years can have a significant impact on who you become. By the time we reach adulthood, many have developed a sense of identity, but have never actually stopped to think "Ok, but who am I meant to be?" Who should i be?" It's only when we take the time to do this that we can begin to understand ourself and our own core identity. For some, this process later on can be quite simplistic. For others, it can be an incredibly liberating, major event. More tomorrow! #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

There's a lot to be said for role-modelling and learning from others. There's even something to be said for emulating certain behaviours of others in order to change your own. BUT: life is not about competition. Competition isn't even really about competition. If you are competing with other people (especially those who have no idea they are in some kind of comp) then you're heading down the wrong path. Don't keep looking at others highlight reels on the internet and comparing yourself. Don't take joy from beating someone on strava, or worse yet for some nonsense metric like what car you have etc. Take joy from being better than you were. Beat yourself on strava, not others. Upgrade your life step by step. regardless of others. Race yourself. You are your only real competition anyway. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

5/15/2024, 9:00:33 AM

IDENTITY The pondering of the, for many, unanswerable question "who am I?" takes a lot of time in the minds of those who prioritise its consideration. But: it is not unanswerable. The reality is that you know who you are. You know what beliefs and values that you hold and you know who you are meant to be. If you cannot answer the question, the reality is not that you don't know you are, its that you don't want to admit who you are. We can all pretend on the surface, or hide behind a well-build wall of ego that, in our own minds allows us permission for the way we treat ourselves and others. It is ego that allows you to treat others poorly, under the veil that you are somehow better and it is ego that hides from you the realities of treating yourself like a bin. BUT: the old line "you cant change who you are" is, and has always been, nonsense. Of course you can. There are clear and set progressions fro reframing your life, changing the parts of you that you want to change, destroying limiting beliefs and adding in new values. Creating an Identity that you want. You can be who want to be. We'll look at this some more this week. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

Just a few feelings from the PR1 trail 3 Peaks Trail on Madeira Island ( most famous one on the island) … starting at Pico do Ariero at 1818m and winding up and down narrow trails, ridges and absolute take your breath away points! So many stone and metal stairs to the highest peak on the island, Pico Nuivo … it was an ocean of stunning clouds draping over the mountains.. so stunning .. with the only drawback being lots of people. Getting there was an adventure .. having to drive up road inclines .. that i never have in my life .. ( thank goodness for Fiat Panda) It is best to get there by 5:30 in the morning to get a parking spot to catch the one of a kind Sunrise .. arriving at 6:30.. ( and having picked up a bunch of stranded Canadians) I had to park way down the road and missed the sunrise. It is worth the 4am wake up, 5am arrival .. to head further out on the trail a couple kms in .. to catch the sunrise and miss the crowds ( they are mostly at the start at the Pico Arieiro) I did the 7km ish 1000m of accumulated elevation ( tried to run it but not always easy with people) route to Pico Nuivo and ran back - totaling 13km + and 1900+ Meters of elevation .. Most people do the one way and get a taxi on the other side … But if you parked your car at the start like me.. must come back to it .. which I think is the best experience - as you see it from different perspectives Many magic moments made on Madeira in a focused period of time The Magic of Madeira Hiking Yoga + Madeira Adventure plus Coming to you end of Sept 2025 Peace out and keep on the trails ⛰️☕️ Love Coach K #madeiraisland #picoarieiro #piconuivo #highestpeakmadeira #hikingadventures #trailrunning #adventurecoach #mountainsoulguide #uniqueadventurecreator #transformationalexperience

The important point here is that you get to CHOOSE. A lot of people have dreams as to who they'd like to be (note that this is different from what they'd like to do: this is important). Quite a lot of people state dislikes about who they are / have become. You get to decide who you are. You can very literally flick a switch and change on a dime. If there is one thing that I love when I’m on an adventure it’s coffee. I love coffee. I can be a bit of a coffee snob as I have it black and as I generally only have one a day, it better be a good one!! Three things that I need to have the best coffee on my adventures are: - My @alpkit Kraku - My @alpkit MytiMug 600 - Taylor’s Coffee bags - the best I’ve found so far! The Kraku is great because along with the gas and a lighter it all fits into the MytiMug and a neat little bag. It’s light weight so will be in my pack even when lugging a it up a mountain for a wild camp. What little luxuries do you love to have on adventures? ⬇️ In The BeWild Membership we have kit lists available for all your adventures. I also provide kit support via Voxer to give you a helping hand if needed. Join the waitlist now for the membership, doors are opening soon and those on the waitlist will get a reduction in their monthly fee. Link in bio.

What is true for me? This sunshine reminded me of a saying that bugs me... (often prevalent in the outdoors/adventure world): “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad kit!” Big, giant, fat YAWN to that 🥱 It comes from the same genre of nonsense as “no pain, no gain”. It usually comes with a side dose of superiority from the one uttering it. You know what? I bloody love sunshine 😎 [even though it tries to kill me, thanks skin cancer!] And I love loving sunshine. I love having weather which makes experiences more enjoyable (& have MANY things in which the weather has been SHITE!) I love being a positive person & enjoying fun things. If that makes me ‘basic’ or ‘soft’, bite me. It isn’t toxic positivity - we can’t put a positive spin on everything, & that is NORMAL! (There is a neutral way to view things - a post for another day) This rather Puritan “one must m suffer & earn good things or else they don’t feel as good” is BULLSHIT. Believe me, I’ve had more than my fair share of life-crap, & there are some things NO amount of spin will change. 💫 there is NO shame in enjoying life. 💫 NO shame in chasing joy. 💫 You DON’T have to suffer in order to DESERVE wonderful things. Many wonderful things might require work that might be hard, or need us to get outside our comfort zone - & THAT is 100% ok. Adventures often involve a challenge & adversity element, but it is not the ONLY thing which makes the experience worthwhile Growth is NOT suffering (growth can often come from suffering - but it isn’t essential or even always possible). Many wonderful things do NOT require that it must be uncomfortable. It is SUCH an unhealthy mindset that we must EARN joy. Or without an element of suffering, an experience isn’t as valid. I'm going to call bullshit on this one. You do not have to love what you do to be good at it. You can be an excellent and effective practitioner through loving the process of getting and being good. If you can master enjoying the process of getting very, very good at things without requiring the attachment of enjoying that specific thing or skillset, you can go further, do better and fly higher than you ever considered possible. The notion that you can only do very well at something if you love it is, in itself a hugely limiting belief. I've had jobs and fulfilled roles that I absolutely hated, but that did not stop me doing great work and succeeding. You don't need to "find what you love." You need to love what you find. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

Sunday is a great time to look ahead into next week. Rather that sit and do little, take an hour to write down 3 things that you would like to accomplish over the next 7 days. Make them realistic, achievable but also make goals that require effort from you to reach, not things that you would do anyway. Try simple things, like reducing your phone screen time to less than 1 hour a day. Assigning a number of daily steps. Perhaps you should go for a walk with your other half, everyday just so you can catch up and chat. Maybe you should drop the drnk or sugar. Its a new week, so a new start. Make some goals and hold yourself accountable. next Sunday, review what you achieved, and set goals for the coming week. THIS is a healthy habit to start. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

I suspect that this one doesn't need much elaboration! We've all come across those people that will use the phrase "but we've always don it that way..." Those who fully believe that hows its BEEN done it how it should BE done. Now, far be it for us to comment on how anyone chooses to live their life (as long as it is an active choice) as many enjoy living in their own comfort zone. But, we absolutely do criticise this position in the professional world, as it prevents any progress or forward motion. If you find yourself working somewhere where you hear the phrase "We've always done it like this" with no further reason or explanation other than that, you are not working in the right place for a forward thinking Adventure Professional! Change the culture, or get out. Of course this applies to your won life as well, by all means live within your own comfort zone and keep doing the things you've always done, if this makes you happy. But you cannot strive for forward progress or development in this state. Want to be better? Cast off the traditions, cast off the way you used to do things and find some new ways. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

This probably deserves a longer, more involved post than I'm about to give it here. Optimism is important. Forward looking and positive thinking will absolutely serve you better than negative thought processes or dwelling on the past. We spend a significant amount of time with clients talking about limiting beliefs and how to overcome these to reframe the future. That being said, it is not a realistic prospect to advise that you always look upon everything with rose-tinted goggles. It's not the way that the world really is and in ignoring this, you start to ignore reality. It's important to look at the negative as well as the positive in order to give yourself an accurate, realistic picture of where you are, so that you may best construct a route to get to where you want to be. So, look at both sides of the coin when assessing your current position, and the reason why you are where you are. But absolutely, be optimistic and allow yourself to dream when planning where you want to be. Otherwise where you are, is where you'll stay... #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

Here's three things that we think every beginner Adventure Athlete® should know: 1. NO SHORTCUTS. Put in the miles. Becoming a master at anything really comes from doing all the basics very well. Then you add the complex and advanced skillset. In the realm on adventure, the ability to perform the fundamental skills very well is the most important thing and will keep you alive. Fancy rope-work, expensive kit or shortcuts may impress your followers, but the more complexity you bring to your systems, the more you leave yourself open to something going wrong. We talk to many adventure athletes for whom the best advice is to go and take the time to adapt to the environment and gain confidence in the abilities they already have. take the time to become efficient and proficient in the basic skills first! Really, the only way to do this is mileage. Get out there. 2. TURN BACK. No, don't just turn back. But learn how to. Turning back when things don't feel right, or are not going to plan is an incredibly important skill. Every experienced and accomplished adventure athlete has multiple stories of turning back or failing at an objective. It is always, always, better to get home alive. 3. BE RESPONSIBLE. For yourself. Get fit, get strong and get prepared. Don't make excuses, don't just do the "fun stuff." Be honest about your abilities and if you need help, then ask for it. Pay for a course instead of another piece of kit yo don't need. Practice your skills and get good at them before trying to show them off. Being an Adventure Athlete® is an incredibly rewarding lifestyle. But it can be a very short lifestyle if you rush it! Take the time to learn the craft and it will reward you for years to come. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

WAIT! there’s more to this quote ⬆️ than you think... Many people might take this as a rallying cry to get ‘more, more, more’ & ‘be more, have more, do more...because of the you’re worth it’ type messaging... Or shaming you for not ‘hustling’ hard enough in your life. That is NOT what I’m about. Sure, if you want or need more of something that brings you joy or peace or sets your soul alight then I’m delighted to help you do that. HOWEVER...settling isn’t bad, per se. Settling & comfort can feel wonderful. Sometimes it is necessary. It can feel safe. We ALL need to feel safe. HOWEVER... often we’re settling because we don’t feel we CAN reach the place where we yearn to be - & we just KNOW that it is meant for us. But we don’t know HOW, we think it isn’t possible or, worse, that we don’t DESERVE it. THAT can be down to imposter syndrome. We might even get to ‘there’ & then feel that we don’t belong, or that we’re about to get ‘found out’ 😫 If we believe that we don’t deserve it - it’s possibly that we lack self-belief or confidence. When you address these things, you find that you DO believe that you belong. You show up with genuine desire, confidence and gravitas, and others also see that you belong. AND... you STOP settling for things which do not bring out the best in you, people who take advantage of you or cause you to doubt yourself. You stop wasting time because you’re not desperately trying to ‘earn’ what you want. You stop ‘hustling for your worthiness’. You see through these situations or people that you’re tolerating or settling with for that they are - no way a reflection of YOUR self-worth. That’s the work that we do. If you want more of that, and less battling the imposter syndrome or self-doubt, give me a call. Because you deserve to be in places and with people that bring you joy, peace and success. Even if you can’t imagine feeling that way or you don’t believe it is possible. You can, and it IS possible. Freedom awaits 💫

DEVELOPING PEOPLE As an Adventure Professional®, the personal development of others should be forefront of your mind. Here's three methods to helping develop others: 1. ASK QUESTIONS You have two ears and one mouth for a reason! You should be listening twice as much as speaking. As leaders, we can often be too quick to provide a response, or a solution. Asking more concise questions will enable you to better understand their needs. 2. ASK WHAT THEY NEED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM Once there is clear understanding of the wants and needs, how can you offer advice that prompts forward thinking and ultimate change? Asking what they think that they need to do, and what is realistically doable can be very helpful to create action. 3. REFLECT Reflecting what you heard back at them puts their journey into perspective and lets them know they have been heard and confirms understanding. Writing this down adds a new layer of understanding and commitment to action. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

Smart man, that Thoreau! Dream first, and dream big. Use the dreams to form actual, well formed outcomes and goals. Then start building the steps to reach them. It all sounds very simple but increasingly I am finding people who seem to have lost the capacity to dream, or to dream big. They will "dream" of goals that are, really, already achievable or not very far away. Part of the reason for this is often a fear of failure, or over reaching but more often than not it just hasn't occurred to them that they can dream big and actually get there. Do yourself a favour this week. Think about a REAL dream. Yes, keep it in the bounds of reality, but what would you really want to achieve? (a good example here is that if you are saying half marathon, quickly change that to a full). How can you get there? The ability and the capacity to dream big does not only belong to the young. Your life can be as full of dreams achieved as anyone else. You just need to allow yourself to dream in the first place. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticwayyourself.

WORKING TOO HARD? OR HARDLY WORKING? Many think that time in the gym / time training has the biggest impact on your results. But the reality is that the biggest variable is EFFORT. It is very common for athletes to spend a lot of time training in a low-effort (not the same as low intensity) state and, essentially wasting their time with junk miles, junk reps or just scrolling in the gym. Here's some things that dictate how much time of real, effort work that you complete in training: 1. CONSISTENCY: You need to show up! Follow the programme. 2. ATTITUDE: Effort is uncomfortable. You need to be prepared and willing for this. 3. BALANCE: Intensity must be balanced with quality. Otherwise your just smashing yourself for little gain. 4. RECOVERY: You get fitter and stronger in the recovery phase, not in the gym. The better and faster you can recover, the more quality training stimulus you can put in and the better the adaptation. AND, if you feel your effort waning, your motivation lacking. If you feel fatigued and too tired, a rest day or days may be the best option... Effort does not mean smash regardless of feel. It means be smart with your training. How are you effort levels? #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

Perhaps more importantly, letting go of what you once thought you would be.. It's not always right, though. For some, they choose a goal early, chase it and make it. For others, the goal itself may not have been the well-formed outcome they once believed it to be. If that is the case, then you must be aware enough to recognise that instead of chasing something that is unrealistic, you set it down and pick up a new goal. Sometimes this is just a new timeframe to the same goal. It may be that you have the awareness to realise that you are not going to be x, despite the fact that you had that goal since you were a teenager. IT may be that you have the awareness to decide that your goal is achievable, but you need to reframe your timescale. Either way, the art of regular review of your goals and your position in relation to them allows you to ensure that you are always on track. Don't pick a goal and then sort of generally aim for it, wondering years later why you never got there. Pick a goal, deliberately drive at it and review you progress along the way, keeing yourself on track. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

TENDONITUS A common complaint amongst adventure athletes! But did you know that what is often self-diagnosed and described as tendonitis is not? Tendonitis means the inflammation of a tendon. The issue with this term is that recent research has shown that in conditions diagnosed as tendonitis, there are little to no inflammatory cells present. This means that the term tendinosis is more applicable. The main cause of tendinosis is the disruption of collagen fibres, not inflammation. Collagen is a structural protein in connective tissue. Because of the disruption of collagen fibres, the tendon weakens and cannot support high loads. Seeing as there is no inflammation present, inflammatory meds and corticosteroid injections have actually increased recovery time and accelerated degeneration. Note that eccentric strengthening has been shown to increase the collagen and strength of a tendon. SO: before you diagnose that elbow, knee, achilles etc as tendonitis and start smashing ibuprofen: go and see a real specialist. It may make all the difference. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

We've all seen the ice bath fashion on social media! We've all seen the so called "trainers" that advise you get up at 4am to freeze yourself before you start you day. I do agree that deliberately putting yourself in difficult situations or positions can improve resilience, and I do buy that cold water immersion can have an improvement on mood. If this is your reason for doing it, crack on (safely...). BUT: it is worth pointing out that the claimed benefits for recovery ma not be accurate. A 2015 study (Leeder et al.) found that an ice bath did not promote recovery in subjects with DOMs. Icing may slow the healing process. So, note that although that an ice bath likely will make you feel better, there is no evidence to show that cold therapy results in increased performance and / or enhanced recovery. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

IN A HURRY? Those who try to rush their training and preparation often end up injured, burnt out out and less fit. The key to preparation of any kind is deliberacy and planning, this will get you further than rushing, or simply adding a ton of junk volume. Regardless of whether you are preparing for a major expedition, a long distance event, just training to be generally fitter and better or even preparing for a presentation at work, the same principles apply. Fist, make a plan as to how and when you will train / prepare. Break it down into sections with specific focus. TH]hen, simply execute the plan. Step by step. Deliberate and planned preparation and training will always make you much fitter, much stronger, much better than any form of random of rushed prep. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

The mental side of training is often overlooked. By mental training, we don't just mean a focus on an athlete's mental wellbeing; this should be an integral part of any programme; we mean the mental preparation for the goal event. In many ways, it is easier to train physically for the goal. Mental training takes significantly more effort for some. Mental training is generally used for: - Environmental familiarisation - Motivation - Reduce negative thoughts or thought patterns - Reestablish Focus - Success visualisation - Skill development - Anxiety reduction You can hugely increase your ability to perform under pressure with effective mental training in this regard. On top of this, mental fatigue has ben shown to stop an athlete exercising 15% sooner than when not mentally fatigued. Thats massive! All of our training programmes include an effective, useful and easy to follow syllabus for the mental training of an athlete. If you are serious about your own goals, prioritise adding this in with your physical training. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

At the core of any good, effective training programme is structure. A well known structure is periodisation, of which there are a number of modals and variations. This involves a a progression of of cycles of training periods to get an athlete to peak performance by a particular date. Whereas we do periodise our athlete's training, if writing your own programme, we would suggest that, rather than trying this, that instead a simple and easier to implement version is "Least specific to most specific." Essentially, this means that further form your goal date, you train the macro modalities of fitness and strength and as you get closer, you translate these to the specific modalities that you require. As you get closer still, that is when the specific use of equipment and nutrition comes in to play. Training will always, ALWAYS, work better with a set structure that drives towards a determined goal. Just training to "get fit" "be fit" etc, whereas not ineffective will never allow you to see the fitness, strength and performance of which you are truly capable. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

One of my favourite quotes, and actions, regards stopping chirping on about what makes a good man, in favour of just being one. Of course, we should substitute "man" for "person" but it still stands. If you catch yourself on a soapbox, waxing on about how people should be or act, how a professional should do things or, worst of all, some piece of gossip then perhaps you need to turn your view inward. Embody what you lecture. Rather than tell others what a person "should be," be it. Let them watch, then follow. Rather than listen to wax. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

I'm writing a couple of Ultrarunning programmes today, so heres a few thoughts / points in relation to this: While there is a near infinite number of names for different runs and workouts, running sessions really only fall under five categories: - Recovery Run - Endurance Run - Steady State Run - Tempo Run - Intervals Run To actually develop the required adaptation, training will have focussed blocks, and the workouts within each block will contribute to this. Note this does not mean that only a singular workout type is used in each block. These should be integrated. A good and well-thought out running programme will, over the course of the programme utilise all five of these session types to elicit the maximum adaptation from the training stimuli. It is not uncommon to find a training programme that focusses primarily on endurance runs, with a little bit of interval work and that's it. This kind of programme may get you to the finish line, but it's leaving a lot of fitness on the cutting room floor. An ultracycling programme can be thought of in a very similar way. This is only one part of good programming. There should be an entire S&C element in there as well. So, if you are writing your own programme for a distance running goal, ensure you include the above (as part of a periodisation series of training blocks). And don't forget the strength work! #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

Are you happy with who you are? When you dig deeper into the thoughts, beliefs and values of a person who seems generically unhappy with the world around them, with everything in front of them, the answer you find is so very often that they are actually unhappy with themself. Sometimes its a simple fix, in that t hey are unhappy with their physicality. Although even this, being unhappy with what stares back in the mirror can infect our feelings about who we are, rather than just what we are. When the unhappiness is about who we are to start with, then deeper work is required. BUT: it can be done. You see, you are equipped with all that you need to make the changes that you require. Do you want to change your life? Change what you are? Change who you are? Then change it. No that may not be easy, but what other option do you really have? #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway

It's disappointingly common to hear of people describing themselves as "broken." Especially when the described catalyst is another person. People can hurt you, people can get in your way and, of course, other people can have a profoundly negative impact on your life. But they cannot break you. You choose to be broken, just as you choose not to be. What other people do to, and around, you is external to you. It is outside of you. The only way it makes it inside is if you let it. Practice a little more distance. Remind yourself this week that the actions of others need not make it past your gate. #HealthQuotes #FitnessMotivation #MountainLife #AdventureQuotes #OutdoorFitness #MountainInspiration #WellnessJourneY #SummitSeeker #NatureFitness #ExploreMore #FitLifeAdventure #MountainMindset #HealthyLifestyle #AltitudeAttitude #ChallengeYourself #TrailTales #PeakPerformance #AdventureAwaits #HikeInspire #AdventureCoaching #SportsProfessionals #OutdoorLeadership #AdventureCoach #AthleteDevelopment #GuidingExcellence #ireland #AdventureSkills #ultracycling #nc4k #transatlanticway
