May 20th 2024 - MT WHITNEY 2 for 3. Almost one year since my failed attempt on June 10 2023 •First off I want to say thank you to @luz_her25 for inviting me and giving me another shot at redeeming myself. Last year i got elevation sickness early on the hike and had to turn back. It really broke me that day not being able to summit but it motivated me to train harder and come back! • Second I would like to tell my little brother @mykey_g1 HAPPY BIRTHDAY! He said that I would summit and I believed him. Wishing you nothing but the best! • Third I would like to thank @kevingarcia3528 for helping guide everyone into getting acclimated and leading the hike. Also thank you @the.mattdalorian and @dreamhunter666_ for cooking for everyone! To start off we huddled in a circle and Kevin brought out a recording of @chi.mex_active and it made me so emotional hearing her prayer and as I closed my eyes I felt myself on top of the summit feeling incredible. I knew then I was going to summit. All the way to trail camp I felt amazing! A complete difference from last year. I trained so much to be ready and I felt the difference! It just goes to show that you can always come back with a much stronger version of yourself 💪🏾 don’t give up. Even through the chute I felt great! I felt like nothing could stop me! Once we hit trail crest is when things started to change. I felt really heavy on the final 1.9 miles and slowly started getting exhausted and slower. I would stop every once in a while, breathe, and take another 20 steps that was the only thing I could do. My mind would wander as if I would forget what I was doing. I’d quickly snap out of it, breathe and keep going. Still feeling strong we almost made it to the top until suddenly I felt sick and puked right before the summit. Surprisingly I felt great! Just what I needed to make it to the summit! When William Goldman signed-on to ‘Maverick,’ he’d been doing Original Screenplays for a bit and Thems are Hard. So one of his secrets in wanting to do this one was he had the Great Old TV Show to pull from. Of course, Real Life had Other Plans. Here’s Goldman himself with, “One of the great shocks of my life happened in my living room where I spent many hours looking at old episodes. While they had tons of charm – mostly from James Garner himself – they had almost no plot at all. Nothing for me to steal. Happy Early Motivational Monday to you all and to those who need some much needed inspiration, motivation, and encouragement to get through the upcoming week, especially on Monday. Mondays are the first days of the week and the first day after the weekend, which means that for most of us out there, it is hard to get the week started off on the right foot. Mondays need to be days that we get the chance to plan and prepare for the week that follows them. How do you stay motivated on Mondays? Who do you get the most inspiration from? What can you do to find it? One of my main motivating factors for this year has been to prepare, train, acclimatize, practice, and realize just how much effort, energy, and inspiration I need to make this trip and summit push a success. I am truly blessed to have friends and family in my corner to support me every step of this journey, which will then help me to achieve my long term goal of summitting Mount Whitney in Lone Pine, California. It is important to set up short and long-term goals throughout the week to help you stay motivated throughout the days, weeks, and months leading up to your goals.
