Happy #coverlustfriday with this couple frolicking in the forest then will have fun in his cave. I love how happy this cover makes me!!! Book review 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 He comes with a warm waterfall!!! Gabriel Rein in “The Prince’s Bride” would have a great dating profile. However, only Lady Marianne Daventry gets to call him hers in @charismichaels second of the Hidden Royals series. There are many great characters in this book! The heroine aka Lady Ryan was relatable especially to an eldest sibling who would do anything to save her family from uncertainty like taking a trip to honor an arrangement marriage. Mr. Rein aka Prince Gabriel d’Orleans was a handsome, protective yet reclusive cinnamon roll. Their close proximity had him reconnecting with family and we come to adore each person. I love the attraction Ryan and Gabriel had since their second meet-cute. Since then, their tension and chemistry builds, and I love that he can’t stay away. He’s a type of shadow daddy you want following you. The familiarity they have with each other from childhood adds to how comforting and heartwarming this book was. I appreciate that Ryan made choices when Gabriel was slow to overcome his external and internal conflicts. She did what she needed to do without being annoying or pushy, and I love her for that. Gabriel stopped hiding behind his horse whisperer identity and made the best royal entrance to stop a foe and to assure Ryan of his love! If you enjoy road trips, secret identity, sad boys, close proximity, forced proximity, arranged marriage/marriage of convenience, epistolary, and hilarious romances, then I highly recommend this swoon-worthy book!!! I was so excited to find this copy of Any Duke in a Storm at my local library just a few months after its release- not only is the cover super swoony, but the book contains PIRATES and SPIES and swashbuckling shenanigans and sword fights that double as foreplay. I adored Lisbeth aka Bonnie Bess, our hypercompetant, take-no-prisoners heroine, and Raphael Saint, a smooth smooth half-Frenchman who is also of mixed Caribbean ancestry. It's high heat, high adventure, and the most fun l've had reading a historical in a long time— would absolutely recommend if you haven't read it already.

In keeping with covers that remind me of spring this month, how about this duo for #coverlustfriday ? These books were published by Avon in the early 1990s. They were part of Avon‘s Regency Romance line, which was robust at the time. But these covers are different than the typical covers that Avon used. To me, they have a very impressionistic feel. They’re also quite different from the typical illustrated cover, with its precise lines that depict people as they truly look. Instead, the setting on these covers impacts you more than the people do. The couple on Tournament of Hearts by Cathleen Clare are very small. Even the horses they’re riding don’t seem that large relative to the garden they’re going through. And although it’s supposed to be an English garden, I really get an Italian feel from this. The couple on Deirdre and Don Juan by Jo Beverley are more prominent, in a typical garden-bench pose. But they’re still just an aspect of the overall image of the garden that they’re in, with its trees and bushes. Both of these covers—one with a lighter palette, one with a darker—stand out when you look at them compared to other romance covers. They’re just so unusual. I remember seeing them in the store and picking them up because of how distinctive these covers were. Deidre and Don Juan is a delightful book, one that I had Beverley sign for me when I met her. The heroine is one of those characters that the hero just never sees coming. But looking at Tournament of Hearts, which I never got around to reading, the premise sounds adorable. A medieval tournament during Regency times, with the hero stuck in the lordly knight role? It sounds like a hoot! And note that these were both traditional regencies. They would’ve been on the shelves along with Signet or Zebra regency romances as shorter #categoryromance reads. What do you think of this type of cover on a romance? Does it appeal to you? Tabitha is a very intelligent woman with the goal of becoming the first woman allowed to join the sterling society but they won’t even consider her if she isn’t married. I loved how direct, honest and level headed these 2 were when discussing what they need from a marriage and why as well as how much they lift each other up when they are facing difficult situations, it was incredibly sweet. This groping couple really stands out against the solid red background and the flowers along the side are so pretty! What I really love about this cover is the attached bookmark. The second picture shows what the cover looks like with the bookmark folded in. It's rare to find books that still have it attached and I really miss details like this on covers. Sadly, the marketing of books has definitely changed through the years. I can't express how much I appreciate Indie authors adding stepbacks to their books! 🙏 🧳I hope you all enjoy this long weekend! ♠♥ Happy #CoverLustFriday ♦♣ Odessa Gold by Linda Shaw. Cover artist: Pino Daeni (?) The premise of this book is what initially drew me in. Our hero Odessa Gold gets out of prison after serving a 10-year sentence for killing a man. On a train to St. Louis, he meets Genny and her 72-year-old blind companion Jessamine...  "Odessa Gold" had one of the lowest ratings among all of my books on GR, but that only made me want to read it more. Yes, it had its defects, but I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book and gave it a solid 3 stars. Since I don't read many books set in the Gilded age, the locations (St. Louis, New York, Saratoga) fascinated me. With that being said, I recommend that you give some lesser known authors and books a chance.

Recent Read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Did I buy this book because I loved the cover, and then realize it was the last in the series? Yes. Yes I did. But I’m not faithful to reading in order anyway! This one was a little slower paced, but I liked that it was low angst. The Hero and Heroine are pretty invested in being together from the beginning. No will they, won’t they, just how do we figure out all these outside complications so that we can be together. I liked that Kai was a bit of a history nerd and Signey was an inspiring artist. They seemed to have a lot in common and genuinely liked one another, not just lusty thoughts and brooding. It had its romantic melodramatic moments with Scottish storms, near drownings, and a conniving uncle. I could have sworn I read this but my Goodreads says no. I definitely know I read at least one book in the series, but I think it was MINX, which of course, is the one book from the series I don’t own 😂 But it doesn’t stop me from LOVING this cover. I think it’s my all-time favorite cover of Julia Quinn’s as I find it so beautiful. You definitely feel like they’re dancing at midnight with the colors and the pose. ✨ 𝑨 𝑹𝒐𝒈𝒖𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑻𝒆𝒙𝒂𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉 ✨ Grayson Rhodes, the rakish son of a duke, abandons stifling London to seek his own fortune in America. He finds himself living in the barn and working on the widow Abbie Westland’s cotton farm. The more time Abbie and Grayson spend together, the closer they become, developing a bond that blossoms into a love that neither of them anticipated. However, their love is tested when a haunting reminder of Abbie’s past resurfaces, threatening their future together. The premise for this series is really original and a fun take on the “fish out of water” trope. We have three men from the upper crust of London whose fathers make them come to America to earn their own way and make their own fortunes. And like any Lorraine Heath book, shenanigans ensue and this one was absolutely bonkers towards the end. I can’t say too much about my thoughts on things without spoilers so I’ll just say that I enjoyed the beginning for the most part, but around the 50-60% mark, the plot slowed tremendously for me. However, it picked up later with some wild twists typical of LH’s style. While this wasn’t my favorite of her books, it was entertaining nonetheless. Also, happy #coverlustfriday to you all! I really like this reprint cover and all the soft pinks and reds. ❤️

Obviously, it’s a complete artistic subversion of the classic bodice ripper pose. HIS girls are out. You get the vibe that she’s whispering dirty things in his ear. One of the reasons why this fits the Ms. Bev vibe so well, imo, is that aside from her having generally very strong heroines who calmly look men dead in the eye and go “I’m simply not doing that”, her heroes are… often pretty slutty? At least in my reading experience. Like, I’m not even referring to the body counts. It’s the SPIRIT of sluttiness. The sluttery lives in their souls. They’re the types of men who dress super well and sprawl over beds like “you know what to do” and I find that so… good. I’m forever chasing that Romancing the Stone high… could this #coverlustfriday pick give me the hit I crave? Emerald Rain (1991) by Maggie Osborne was an impulse Pango purchase. It’s set in 1897 and involves a spoiled miss (I assume) needing to use a rugged, mustachioed guide to get her down the Amazon to her betrothed’s rubber plantation. I haven’t read any Maggie Osborne yet but have heard great things. So, despite the middling Goodreads average rating, and the 😬 I feel about any book with a plantation in it, I plan to dive in at some point. Cover art is by Lisa Falkenstern Charles. Happy #coverlustfriday to you all! Today, I come to you with a conundrum. I love the gentle beauty of this cover for Courting Miss Hattie by Pamela Morsi. It’s sensual and gentle all at once. You get the sensuality from his unbuttoned shirt and that untied back of her dress, with its laces gently billowing. Her undone hair flowing over her back is both decorous and seductive. And the crowning touch is the curve of her exposed shoulder as her sleeves fall. But it’s also a relatively clothed scene. There’s no major cleavage; there’s no wild expressions of desire on their faces. I get a sense of care far more than anything else. And that’s highly appropriate for a Morsi romance, which features a gentle form of Americana that’s irresistible. I’ve shared her covers several times here on IG because she’s one of the authors that I just loved when her books came out. This is one of her earliest, published back in 1991. But there’s also a bit of a mystery here. If you look at the title verso page that I’ve included, you’ll see that the cover credit is given to Renato Aime. But look at the cover! It very clearly says “Ken” right below his left elbow. That makes me think of Ken Otsuka, a major illustrator of that time. So I have to believe this was an error on the part of the publisher. Perhaps they reused previous title for Morsi and just forgot to change the artist. But that also terrifies me. We cover fans rely on information on the title verso page to tell us about cover art. In fact, we rejoice when we get it since it’s often not there! But this example makes me nervous that we can’t trust what we need to trust. It’s not a comforting thought. 😩 Instead, I’ll rejoice in that beautiful setting sun behind this couple, gently gilding the edges of their hair, and beautiful fields and flowers surrounding them. His black hair and clothes give him a dangerous feel while her bows and ruffles give the scene some softness. Her blue eyeshadow definitely dates this book! I'm unfamiliar with this author but I did skim through it and it didn't seem half bad.
