NGC6888 believe it or not this was shot at 1300mm shot in HOO, I’ve been working on a version at 960mm as well but with an APSC instead of FF sensor and it actually has a smaller FOV. First light for my Askar 103 Apo Refractor on the Gem 28 Mount, combined with the Nikon D7500 and Astronomik UHC Filter, while using a guiding system, controlled with the Asiair mini. This rig is definetely a new state of the art of looking into the deep space for me! We were outskirts in a beautiful bortle 4 class sky and had nearly best conditions on newmoon. For the first light I´ve choosen the Pelican Nebula (IC5070, Hydrogen/Oxygen-Nebula, Distance 2000 lightyears) also known as a part of the beautiful NGC7000, the North America nebula. Closely related species can, in many cases, interbreed and form hybrids. One such example is the swan (Cygnus olor x buccinator) shown in the pictures, which is a hybrid of the Mute Swan (C. olor) and the Trumpeter Swan (C. buccinator). It shares most of its appearance with the Trumpeter Swan, however, some striking details reveal the genetic influence of the Mute Swan. In contrast to the black beak of the Trumpeter Swan, the beak of this hybrid swan contains some distinct pinkish patches. Additionally, the wings of the hybrid are shorter (compared to the Trumpeter Swan) and can be presented puffed up like often displayed in Mute Swans for intimidation. Just a few cases of hybrids between Trumpeter Swan and Mute Swan have until now been reported in the wild, highlighting the rarity of this individual. Durante mucho tiempo el color de Albireo fue un misterio, ya que se presentaba como una estrella que cambiaba de color, a veces azulada, a veces naranja, a veces blanca. Albireo, cuyo nombre resulta de varios errores de traducción, originalmente viene del árabe Al-Minhar al-Dajajah, que se traduce literalmente como ‘pico de gallina’. Albireo se encuentra en la constelación del Cisne a unos 420 años luz de distancia, marcando el pico de la misma, por esto también es conocida como “la estrella del pico”. Aunque es visible a simple vista, si la observamos con binoculares o con un telescopio pequeño, podemos resolver que de hecho se trata de dos estrellas una muy cerca de la otra. Es difícil determinar si realmente son un sistema binario, ya que desde nuestra perspectiva pueden observarse muy cercanas, pero en realidad pueden estar separadas por cientos de años luz y no formar un sistema binario como tal, en este caso se denomina sistema binario aparente. Si Albireo A y B forman un sistema binario realmente, sigue siendo tema de discusión entre astrónomos hasta el día de hoy. Observaciones hechas por astrónomos han determinado que ambas estrellas tienen la misma edad, lo cual puede ser indicio que de hecho si conforman un sistema binario, pero no es evidencia de que estén gravitacionalmente ligadas. Albireo A, la estrella principal del sistema es una estrella de tipo K, una estrella gigante de color rojizo, mientras que Albireo B es una estrella masiva de color azul. Por su parte, se sabe que Albireo A tiene una acompañante, es decir es una estrella binaria denominada Albireo Ac, esta es una estrella azul al igual que Albireo B, observable únicamente con telescopios más potentes. Otras observaciones muestran que a su vez Albireo Ac puede tener un acompañante, ya sea una estrella muy similar o un agujero negro, ya que se ha detectado más del doble de la masa que muestra con su espectro. Es muy difícil determinar cuántas estrellas forman realmente este complejo sistema estelar. Sadr Region in Cygnus This region refers to the emission nebula surrounding the star Sadr (Gamma Cygni) that forms the intersection of the cross in the constellation Cygnus, which is in the center of this image. It contains the Butterfly Nebula (on the left) and open star cluster NGC 6910 (top left of Sadr). This is our first true narrowband image since transitioning to a monochrome camera a couple months ago. We were excited to fully test our mono setup and processing including capturing and incorporating RGB stars. The image is in SHO (sulfur in the red channel, hydrogen in the green channel, and oxygen in the blue channel) with stars captured in RGB to show their natural colors. It’s been another learning curve in the astrophotography journey, but certainly well worth it so far! Check out our Astrobin in our bio for a full resolution image.
