Last week a friend's car died suddenly leaving her stranded in the middle of a busy road. An angry driver sped past her yelling "stupid b---ch!, learn how to drive!" And this morning I was on the receiving end of someone's frustration; a contractor whom I have had a very good working relationship with for many months as he tried to resolve an issue I'm having on the farm. Nothing he has done to date has resolved it and understandably he's frustrated. Resulting in this normally friendly and attentive guy quitting and leaving me stranded because, as he put it, "I lost a ton of money last year trying to do similar repairs on other jobs and I'm not looking to buy myself any more problems!" It's clear that we're all feeling pushed to our edges. We're maxed out. We're feeling overwhelmed in today's world just merely trying to survive. We need a time-out. A pause. Space to take a deep breath and come back to center; back to our heart. Dave at @smallpausecoach will be joining me on July 6th for an opportunity to do just that! Due to his rider rapidly growing and moving onto horses an incredible opportunity would be arising for a new person! Benny has been his current riders first pony and taught her so much over the past few years. He really is very special. In an ideal world right now he is to be leased or part leased from our base where we have excellent facilities including hours of fantastic hacking, 20x60 indoor arena including a set of show jumps and a super friendly and fun atmosphere. Benny would suit as a first pony, he is genuine and safe but will also teach his new rider to really ride! He loves hacking, fun rides, being pampered and fussed. He schools really nicely on the flat and is working at elementary, competing affiliated novice level. He does enjoy jumping but this has been the biggest challenge, we feel we have now over come this but require consistency and training to keep it fun and enjoyable for Benny and his new rider. Aspirations to jump competitively over 65/70 will not be suitable for Benny. There will be opportunity for training, cross country schooling, trips out and about, competing, fun rides etc!! Benny is currently on full livery so no yard duties required and we also have transport and training on site. This is a fantastic opportunity but it will need to be the right person as this pony truly is one in a million. Once we have found a new person for Benny there maybe the opportunity to move him or even buy him further down the line. What a difference a day makes. Yesterday's Candover Valley Ride was possibly the best ever. It's never easy having to postpone an event, but moving April's ride to May made a huge difference to the stunning Chilton Candover ride. The weather gods were on my side and the rain held off until the last person rode which was a bonus. The riders were treated to the most stunning Bluebells as they came through the last third of the route. I opted to photograph in a different spot this year and it didn't disappoint. The carpet of Bluebells was an amazing sight and while they have been good this year, possibly due to having a colder start, they do seem to have lasted longer. Great organisation from the Candover Valley Rides team - it takes a lot to put one of these rides on. Thanks too to the landowner who allowed over 100 horses across their land; the going couldn't have been any better. And inevitably because it's a bank holiday, I'm sitting watching yet more rain descend. We did it!! Mine and Pipers first ever ODE. The ground was rather testing and he really struggled in the dressage but tried his heart out. 37.75 dressage double clear leaving us in 4th place!!
