Yesterdays timing gear episode…… Everything was running great and was making great time until the timing gear decided that it had enough. Was on a fairly busy road but was able to push off onto a side road. Huge thanks to Ted Daros who traveled over an hour to bring be a timing gear and help me get it installed. I had everything apart and ready to go by the time he got there. Also thanks to the locals who brought me water to drink and offered their garage/ tools. This Model A 4 door was in the owners family for 5 decades. Back in 2019 they wanted to turn it into a “hot rod”. They found our shop and asked us to help them achieve what they envisioned. V8 conversion, Ford 9”, Juice brakes, lowered stance, 35 wires, and a 35 ford dash were a few of the upgrades done. While in yesterday for a once over, the owner mentioned he turns 80 this year. @catpack68 did this Lit'l Rodz sometime back, a '29 Ford highboy style Roadster from Revell's arsenal of great kits. This is their Wonderful '29 kit. Some of the details included; that wonderful color is a Duplicolor; Nissan Pearl Red ♥️ w/a slick 1k clear top-coated clear, super shiny and brilliantly done, a resin top from Drag City Resins which matches the interior perfectly; done in a Plasticote light tan. The license plate, and a North Carolina tag, were done by Best Model Parts, and finally, the exhaust tips are from Mr. Model, while the distributor is a MAD wired distributor. The paint is smooth glossy and fabulous. It's super shiny. There's a chrome radiator shell, a shiny axle & running gear, cranberry red frame rails, and huge chrome bucketed headlights. The wheels/tires look classic w/black walls, black steel wheels, and tiny chrome dog 🐕 dish hubcaps from the '32 five-window kit. Inside, STS decals are covering the tan bench seats & door cards. There's a tan floor, & a steering wheel with chrome 🎸 spokes, a 🍒 red dashboard w/maybe black dials, & a taller chrome ball shifter. There are also neatly placed seatbelts. Meanwhile, the rear has a North Carolina tag, 2 teardrop taillights, peek-a-boo chrome exhaust pipes, and an empty deck lid w/out graphics. The engine is looking good, it's Revell's SBC Chevy engine. It has 3 silvery carbs & 3 shiny chrome-shaped chrome air cleaners, a tan engine block and intake manifold, chrome finned valve covers, a chrome alternator, black radiator hoses, an argent radiator, and a chrome "V" radiator support braces the radiator shell and red firewall. There are fantastically chrome lake pipes extending from each head...they look perfect. Finally, there are chrome radius rods adjacent to the front wheels, a chrome windshield frame, and an overall great appearance...a very traditional feel. Love this build. @artoftimmullins did this Lit'l boy, an AMT '29 drag racer from their Mod Rod (Ala-Kart) kit a long time ago. Man, it still looks as fresh as yesterday's 📰 fruit. Done in combo two-tone paint job; red/white w/a swoosh of white over the cowl. The paint is smooth, silky, and magnificent, but is not overdone. The simple front offers a black frame, a white 🤍 radiator shell and black insert, a headlight delete, black steering pieces & axle, black suspension parts, & black friction brakes. Opposite, the rear deck lid has, well, besides the shiny red paint, nothing 😲...no license plate, taillights, murals, pinstripes, or even a number, nothing! Underneath, there's a weathered underside & a black floor, differential, driveshaft, & suspension parts. The engine oil pan is also black. Up top, there's a chrome cylinder head valve cover, slanted shiny & fabulous twin velocity stacks made out of coffee stirrer straws, a black engine block, two natural metal shade carbs, an exhaust manifold, & those twin, black long, lake pipes that end near the rear passenger side tire. There's also a black radiator shroud & probably a black radiator, a black radiator hose, & that white firewall. The body is not channeled over the frame, as it sits highboy style. The windshield is chopped though, and offers a tiny protective windshield w/a red mini-frame. Wheels & tires are box-stock items. There are red spoke rims I side the front street tires. The rear has narrowed pie crust cheater-slicks w/the same red spoke wires as the front. Jumping into the interior, it's a black interior. There's a black bench seat, door cards, floor, & steering wheel w/a silver center. A few accessories, finish the inside, a scaled-down magazine, & the same model box, a Mod Rod kit. The black dashboard offers a chrome-centered gauge cluster w/black dials & a taller white ball shifter. Finally, there's a chrome cowl fuel cap & cut-down engine cover w/cut outs for the velocity stacks. This guy also won a 🥈 place 🏅 medal at the 2019 TAMS. Thx, bud. Awesome. Shout out to the Model A Car Club of Georgia who had their monthly meeting at the Stuckey’s candy plant in Wrens, GA recently. My grandfather founded Stuckey’s by buying pecans from local farmers and selling them to passing motorists. He hauled his pecans in a Model A Ford. Like Ford Motor Company, Stuckey’s was built tough and built to last. We may not be as big as the automobile giant, but we pride ourselves on being a family business that’s survived three generations and still makes stuff in the USA. AA Friday; National Police Week Edition! The 2nd lowest produced AA was the Deluxe Police Patrol. Only 45 were made by Briggs in 1931. This example was used by the Emeryville, CA Police department. The Deluxe AA's came with 20 inch wire wheels, a chrome radiator shell and a unique bumper with a single center clamp.
