The colour sakura-iro (桜色) 🌸, literally « the colour of the cherry blossom », is an emblematic shade in Japan. In Japan, colours are often inspired by nature and its environment. Pale pink is associated with the delicate petals of cherry blossom, symbols of ephemeral beauty and fleeting life. This colour first appeared during the Heian period (794-1185), in the « Kokin Wakashu », an ancient anthology of Japanese waka poetry. It is one of Japan’s traditional colours, used in art, literature, textiles such as kimonos, and other crafts. The symbolism of the Sakura-iro colour derives directly from cherry blossoms of early spring, which have a profound significance in Japanese culture. They represent the ephemeral beauty of life, with a sense of renewal, reminding us that everything is transitory and fleeting. Their brief flowering, followed quickly by the fall of the petals, embodies both life and death, beauty and violence. Historically, cherry blossoms were associated with the short but intense lives of the samurai, symbolising their death in battle. Sisters (1911) By Otake Chikuha (1878-1936) a Japanese painter. First known for his nihonga and Ukiyo-e paintings. Born in Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture. From the age of four he learned Nanga(a school of Japanese painting which flourished in the late Edo period) In 1891 he moved to Toyama where his older brother Etsudo lived. To make a living Otake worked on images for newspapers and preliminary sketches for medicine advertisements in 1896, he moved to Tokyo, he learned Yamato-e techniques of portraiture, bird and flower painting and at the Kano school, line drawing. Otake started to exhibit at biennial exhibitions. 1908 marked the beginning of his most prolific period, during which he produced his most famous works. The Fourth Dimension. • • Okay, so in this artwork I’ve combined 2 art styles the modern contemporary Manga Art Style and Nihonga, the 140 years old traditional Japanese Art Style. • The modern Manga Art Style has a lot of similar inspired characteristics of the old Nihonga Combining those two I realised that because of the same place of origin, both of the artworks were easy to integrate. The background is inspired by Metempsychosis a Painting by Yokoyama Taikan, and the paintings of Hashimoto Gaho. the cyberpunk tetrapod robot being my creation. 📖 "L'assassinio del Commendatore" - Murakami 📖 #tralibriedarte / #ilmattonedelmese 🖌️ Nihonga (日本画) è uno stile artistico nel quale le opere sono realizzate a pennello su washi (carta giapponese a mano) oppure su seta, utilizzando inchiostro nero prodotto con fuliggine e colla di derivazione animale oppure derivati di minerali, conchiglie, coralli, pietre preziose e polvere d'oro. Intorno a questo stile artistico (lo conoscevate❓) ruota il romanzo di Murakami di cui vi parlo oggi che, tra l'altro, mi è piaciuto da morire! 📚 Un ritrattista, dopo la separazione dalla moglie, va a vivere nella casa di un famoso esponente dell'arte Nihonga (padre di un caro amico del protagonista). Qui, porta alla luce un curioso dipinto, "L'assassinio del Commendatore", rappresentazione del "Don Giovanni" di Mozart, metafora di un episodio di gioventù dell'ormai anziano pittore. 👉🏼 Strani avvenimenti irrompono nella vita del protagonista: un vicino facoltoso quanto misterioso, una campanella che suona in piena notte, un'idea che prende sembianze umane (sì, un'idea, non chiedetemi perché) Crescita personale e artistica, amore, misteri, intrecci, metafore, una discesa nella tana del bianconiglio e una nuova vita. 📖❤️ Ho sentito pareti negativi sul finale che, invece, a me è piaciuto tantissimo e non me lo aspettavo! ❓ Lo avete letto? Cosa ne pensate?
