⚡️NRKL ROUND 2 RACE REPORT⚡️ Round 2 of the Junior Championship took place at a very damp and overcast Warden Law yesterday. I was also proudly sporting my new sponsor @holyspirittattoostudio on my race suit too yesterday 🤩 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 - given this was the first time in the wet at the track (and it was a really slippery track) I was pleased to set a time which saw me qualify in 7th (out of 13 drivers) 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 - I struggled in the pre final and just couldn’t find any grip or pace. I finished 12th in the pre final! 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 - we all changed karts between the pre final and final and I started the final in 12th place. I held back a little on the grid start in case there were any collisions/spins on the grid start for me to take advantage of. My aim was to drive as smoothly and consistently as possible and hopefully make some places up. I found I had more grip in this kart and could push it slightly harder than in the previous kart. I was able to make up a couple of places on the first lap and then consistently made my way up the pack taking advantage of people in front of me spinning off. I did some great switch backs when people got round me and managed to keep myself on track when others slipped into me. I was really pleased to finish the final in 7th place. Well done to @frasermacneillracing on P1, @jayden.g_racing on P2 and Robert B on P3. @finleyharriesracing was the deserving winner of the Driver of the Day award too. Great seeing and racing again with @callumevans_karting and @finn_karting28 too. 🏎 NRKL Round 3 | Wigan 📍Three Sisters Race Circuit, Wigan Had an extremely fun day with very challenging drivers and very unpredictable karts 😂 Completely forgot what order i started and finished in each heat (cons of posting so late) but here is my final race: Final: P25/21 - P13 (P16 after penalty) Had such a fun day or racing and meeting new people, and whilst starting with one of the slowest karts i ended up having one of the fastest in the final 😅 Finished 13th in the final after starting from thr back, however had a penalty so dropped to 16. 75 drivers, 25 in my class, and finishing 21st overall so far. Yesterday I took a trip up to Warden Law (@kne_official ) to get some practice in before my @northernrkl race next week. It was my first time at the track and I had booked in for two consecutive Grand Prix races there. Both races consisted of a 15 minute practice/qualifying and a 30 minute race. Race 1 - I got to grips with the track really quickly and found some decent pace. With 29 of us on the track, I managed to navigate round the other drivers and set the second quickest lap of the session so I started the race in P2. I got a great start on the grid and immediately pulled into P1 and pulled a decent gap from the rest of the group. I quickly found myself catching up to back markers and navigated my way round them quickly and cleanly to finish the race in P1. Race 2 - with only the podium presentation separating this race from race 1, I got straight back on track to set some more qualifying laps. This time I found it harder to get round some of the drivers who were quite unpredictable and I qualified in P6 (out of 30 drivers). On the grid start, I gained two places and moved up into P4 and by the end of lap 1 had made my way up to P3. The drivers in P1 and P2 seemed to have a lot more straight line pace than I did so although I was able to catch back up to them on corners, they were able to pull away from me on the straights. In general, the pace on this race was quicker than the first race which was great too. Towards the end of the race, I was knocked out of the way by the two drivers behind me who were unable to get past me cleanly which meant I finished the race in P5. That said, I managed to knock a second off my fastest time from the first race and set the 4th quickest time at the track this week!! NRKL Juniors Round 1- Daytona Tamworth QUALI: P12 HEAT: P11 FINAL: P12 POINTS: 130 A difficult day of racing but a fun one nonetheless. Found my pace in Heat 1 though this was limited by my kart's straightline speed issues. Had to race in the back of the pack as a result, but held my own through consistent laps and solid defending when needed. Brought home 130 points for @rsportracing, plus 275 from a grand slam by Jake @anders_ladanddad_gokarting and 170 in solid shift by @jack_brennan_karting to bring the team total to 575. Ended up finishing 18th out of 25 on the night which I’m pretty happy with and gets me a few extra points. 🟣 RACE REPORT 🟣 @colinmarshall_ took part in the first round of the @northernrkl at Rowrah Kart Track in the Lightweight category. Practice: P2 - With dry weather overhead and rain in the way, Colin was able to put in a quick time pushing him into the second spot in his class. Heat 1: P18-P7 - Colin began to power his way through the field in the first heat of the afternoon, competing strongly with some of the best in his class with mixed conditions. Heat 2: P6-P3 - Again, Colin was able to hold his own and push his way to the front pack. This resulted in a podium finish for the second heat of the afternoon whilst the rain began to descend on the track. Heat 3: P15-P19 - With a sub-par kart in the final heat of the afternoon, Colin could not find the time he was able to in the previous heats which found him losing places towards the latter stages of the heat. Final: P10-DNF: Unfortunately for Colin, the bad luck continued into the final, with a kart breakdown and no replacement - causing him to retire and miss out on crucial points. Colin had a strong start to the event, showing excellent pace throughout the heats which allowed him to be in contention for podiums. With a bit of bad luck, he was not able to display his full potential. Yesterday we went to Daytona Tamworth for the first time to try it out in preparation for NRKL Round 1. LOVED IT. I did a 10minute qualifying session which got me to 6th out of 21 and then a 20minute race where I managed to get a couple overtakes to move up into 4th 👍🏼 Ended up with a 63.336 lap time which I was so happy with!! The guys 1-3 were absolutely rapid so finishing behind them on my first attempt at this circuit was fine by me! We'll have 3 weight classes to keep racing close, each with a minimum weight, as well as an open (non-championship) class for guest drivers.
We plan to run 1-2 prologue events before our full season in 2023! We're working to secure some amazing circuits for our first events.
