Welp… I’ve heard it from almost every motorcycle rider I know… there will come a day where you crash or drop your motorcycle some how… on accident. Today… was my day. I went to go start it… I’m in the parking lot of the gas station.. I hit the hot start button down below due to handle bar start button issues. It’s in neutral.. it fires up.. I let my hands down to adjust my pants and the bike somehow goes into 1st gear. It jolts forward.. throwing me back the slightest bit.. I tried catching the handlebars as fast as I could but it was already tilting to much that I had to just hold on n’ go with it. It went down to the ground very soft and slow but my skinny lil’ ass had no chance of keeping it from hitting. As embarrassing as it was already… the second worst part of it all was three different people turned and looked away when I asked for their help to pick it up with me. Two “thugged out, tattooed gangsters” as some would call em… came over with a quickness and helped get me back up. They also took a moment to make sure I was good. Wild how people are and what we expect and don’t expect from them. Either way… My Motorcycle 1… Me.. 0. I’m happy to be perfectly fine. I have no idea how I did it but I had tripped going off the step in the back yard @smugglersrum and even though I caught myself from face-planting I ended up pulling a muscle in my side. (No, rum wasn’t involved). It hurts so bad. I’m also really upset I am unable to work out in @deathwatchworks now because it hurts to move (also to cough,sneeze or blow my nose). The squad walked into the weekend with zero reps and a whole lotta vibes with one thing in mind: just have fun ❤️ I’m so proud of these girls and the way we gelled on the court together to show what volleyball can be like when you focus on just making a little “magic”. Huge shout out to our boys/coaches/wizards/ultimate fans. You guys won the crowd. My heart is so full and my body is in so much pain. And I’d do it all over again for these girls. Weekend run… I was going to write something inspiring about how getting out and being active is great for your mental health and wellbeing as last week movement was the theme for #mentalhealthawareness week. But today i am struggling with the inspiration as shortly after I took this picture I tore my calf muscle and had to limp home and I’ve been hobbling around since. But although I am feeling a bit sorry for myself, I won’t let it put me off, I will just have to do something different until I can get back out running again… I do love being active, for me it is my ‘me time’ when I get to escape from all the demands and stress of work and life and everything else. Being active definitely helps my #mentalhealth and I definitely feel it if I’ve missed my activity. Both aerobic exercise and strength training have been found to improve mental wellbeing. 'Nother week, 'nother race First competitive swim for ages. And it showed 🙈 Bike was good, but I could push harder. Alas my run got kiboshed with cramp in my hamstring. So, not awful, but not great. However, always a pleasure to enjoy the company of others who make the pain worth it. Hoping my hammy will recover in time for Barry Island triathlon next week. Meet Lilo! She arrived in BEDR’s care after a run in with a porcupine. 😣 OUCH! Lilo had quills imbedded in her nose, face, chest, legs and inside her mouth. A veterinarian, along with the help of a couple of our volunteers, worked hard to remove hundred’s of quills from her face and body while she was sedated. She’s also had a couple of vet visits to remove quills that had burrowed under her skin or broke off, as her body worked to push them out! After some time healing up from her spikey attack, she is looking and feeling much better! Just look at her sweet smile! She’s now gave up the hunt for wildlife and instead is on the hunt for her forever home! HAPPY WORLD IBD DAY! 🍩 This is officially my first World IBD Day with a Crohn’s diagnosis! Feels great to finally have a set-in-stone answer to the pain and discomfort I have been experiencing for the past (almost) 4 years. 🍩 Lately, Crohn’s has had me in a chokehold. I have had an unrelenting infection/a few abscesses since probably February and have been in a lot of discomfort since then. I think the next step will have to be surgery for a partial colectomy, so that I can finally start on Renflexis (cause you can’t be on infliximab with an infection). 🍩 I still have my percutaneous drain placed, for a little over a month at this point. It is starting to become tiresome, having to have daily nursing care. My drain is leaking and I am worried about the drain site turning into a fistula. :( 🍩 My IBD has been really IBD’ing lately. It sucks. BUT! I’m so grateful for this incredibly helpful and caring community I have here.
