«Is Destruction a form of art? I affirm it can be. Destruction can be a form of creation and a re-creation. ✨Overjoyed by the announcement of final results in the 2024 Color Photography Contest by ReFocus Awards:⁠ “Ascension” in the Abstract category was one of only two entries to receive a Silver Award at the professional level.⁠ “Sky Blue” in the Nature category received an Honorable Mention.⁠ “Dark Beauty” a series of 5 images in the Landscape category also received an Honorable Mention.⁠ “Away” and “Dunes of Woakah” were both nominated by the judges in Fine Art & Landscapes respectively. BOEKEN TIP: Het bijzondere boek ‘One shower a week’ van documentair fotograaf en antropoloog Mariet Dingemans wordt morgen bij boekhandel Athenaeum in Haarlem gepresenteerd! Dingemans is ruim drie jaar bezig geweest om het leven van een duurzame woongemeenschap in Gelderland in beeld te brengen. Zij logeerde er gemiddeld elke twee maanden een paar dagen en kreeg zo een goed beeld van deze heel andere wereld. De mensen hier gaan zo bewust mogelijk om met de natuur en daardoor ging de fotograaf er ook anders naar het leven kijken. Het boek is de afgelopen tijd niet onopgemerkt gebleven. Zo won het in 2023 de El Photobook Award, de tweede Paul Peters Fotoprijs van De Zilveren Camera in 2020 en werd opgenomen op de shortlist van de Dummy Award. ‘Dingemans zoekt al fotograferend haar eigen positie en laat ons dat ook doen. The photo depicts fireflies illuminating the night in an aiyu orchard, use three photos with different focus points to overlay to create an oil painting look.
