The Universe had a good laugh, rolling the clouds in during the peak. Nothing could be seen, and I had to get back to work, so I couldn't exactly stand around and wait. Awful quality obligatory eclipse pics, but my phone clearly doesn't like clouds in night mode, zoomed all the way in. (First 2 taken towards the end, last one taken ≈15 minutes before peak.) It was still kinda cool thinking about how a bunch of people all stopped what they were doing to look at the sun, obstructed or not. Up this med, lower that one, on this, cross-taper off this SSRI, cold turkey off that one. I couldn't keep my head straight. I've since found what works for me, and have been on the mend since--exponentially in the last 6 months. I'm grateful to still be here, if some days only out of spite of everyone who failed me over the years. Here's to laughing back at the universe who dealt me continuously awful hands and threw toxic people my way. I'm sorry to those I've hurt while trying to figure out heads and tails and keep my feet on the ground. The zucchinis in the #Foolsgarden2023 are just hanging in there. I thought they were done in late February. At the time, both plants were becoming overwhelmed with powdery mildew thanks to the very wet January. Dewy nights in March exacerbated the spread of this fungal disease, but somehow the plants are surviving… just. Perhaps the absence of rain for two months helped the plants to survive? I’m picking one or two zucchini a week. Just enough, without creating a glut. And I can’t believe how many Fungus Eating Ladybirds (Illeis galbula) are on the plants. Normally there’s a few per leaf, but there’s dozens on some of the leaves. On the whole, the Fool’s Garden is just about finished. The cucumbers are well and truly spent. The two Jaune Flamme tomatoes only have a few fruit remaining on the vines. How's your summer crops faring? Something weird happened yesterday. I was out riding my bike and then I had this creeping sensation something was off - the kind of feeling that makes you look over your shoulder and raises the hairs on your arms. Then it hit - I wasn’t being rained on. Then, and this is the odd thing - this orb appeared in the sky. Not for long but the birds fell silent and the cows & sheep forgot their millennium-long battle and as one, stood transfixed staring into the sky. Luckily, this odd Dartmoor phenomenon didn’t last long and it was pouring down last night for training.
