This has to be one of my most favourite painting. I painted it in 2018. It also won an award at the Annual Lion’s Club Art Exhibition in Wexford, that same year. I can’t believe how well the frame compliments it. It was a secondhand frame I got from a friend @headsemerging . I get asked very often why I don't become an artist full time. While my commission list is a mile long and I probably could take the leap my only answer to this is that being a full time artist would be quiet a lonely job for me (and also taxes are hard). Many of my commissions are from people and pets that I know, and I immensely enjoy seeing them and caring for them in my day to day job. I am definitely a people person, and sitting at a desk alone all the time just wouldn't be as enjoyable if I didn't get to meet the pets I was drawing. It was a busy weekend of exhibitions, all go! Firstly was an incredible opening night of work by amazing local female artists in celebration of women's international day on Friday night at @creativegrounds.ie. Alfie and gang put on an incredible night 😊 You can spy my painting over the shelves in the music video. Secondly was the opening night of an exhibition at the @presartscentre. This is a huge exhibition with 180 artists exhibiting! My piece is a batik, called Prada Gold. It is a piece I made to look like ancient royal cloth. The work of talented Wexford artist Peter Kehoe, who attends RehabCare Wexford, will be on display at the prestigious Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts Exhibition in Dublin until the end of April. Peter, who lives in Bridgetown in Wexford, makes history as one of 14 artists with intellectual disabilities exhibiting at the Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts. Peter’s artistic journey continues to flourish; since 2022, he has been part of the Connecting Artists Collective. During that year, Peter was part of a group of ground-breaking artists exhibiting their work at the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSI), in St Stephen’s Green, Dublin. Connecting Arts Centre is a social enterprise supporting the disability community in Ireland. The initiative was established by Miriam Spollen in 2022. We moved to our new home in Wexford when the world was opening up after the pandemic.
