Die Haartube (übrigens hat diese 180ml Inhalt !) mit dem WIld Color Oxidanten im Mischungsverhältnis 1 zu 1 mischen und dannach gut 1 Minute lang in einer Plastikschüssel zu einer cremigen Konsistenz rühren. Ihr benötigt also beim Anmischen doppelt so viel Oxidant, wie Wild Color ALL FREE Haarfarbe (Beispiel: 30g Haarfarbe und 60g Oxidant) Nach ca. 30 bis 45 Minuten ist die Haarfarbe ohne Wärmeeinwirkung fertig entwickelt und kann abgespült werden. It's been a whirlwind of an April, and May is looking to be the same. I finished this #cushion cover, the pattern made by @wovenflame and the yarn is @disderoranch #copaca in Spice. It's a rustic worsted weight blend of #corriedale and #alpaca raised in Tappen, British Columbia. I've also dipped my toe into #plantdye experiments, thanks to the book #wildcolor by Jenny Dean. Pictured are my first attempts using foraged birch bark (left) and dandelions (right). Dopo una mattinata appostato in compagnia del mio amico @lupoilterribile_ dove a fatica le spatole si sono concesse a qualche scatto seppur lontano, decidiamo nel pomeriggio insieme ad un altro nostro amico @simofz8 di provare a perlustrare il corso del fiume Po. Appena scesi uno sciame di api ha deciso di passare proprio tra di noi, dopo una leggera fuga da parte mia e di @simofz8 abbiamo proseguito il cammino. Da come stavano andando le cose ormai avevamo quasi perso le speranze di vedere qualcosa, quando ad un certo punto abbiamo notato lei o lui. Una bellissima volpe anche se con un occhio offeso ci ha regalato un bel paio di scatti venendo proprio nella nostra direzione. Ci siamo guardati per un paio di secondi e poi ha cambiato direzione e si è dileguata nella fitta vegetazione. Annie’s painting expresses landscape, a sense of place, and embodiment; she paints out on the land using ingredients from the surrounding place and her garden. This includes indigo dyeing and making inks and paints from wild pigments found in the earth, botanicals, and metals left from the decaying industry. A nature scene from the Wild Colors of the Upper Verde River workshop in Arizona this past weekend. We interrupted this pair of greater short-horned lizards—often called “horny toads”—in the act of well, being horny! The males are much smaller than the females, and their colors vary from gray-black to reddish-pink. And the best part —the watercolor for this sketch was made onsite from local pigment, a pretty red that the female mimicked perfectly. We also found red sandstone that worked perfectly as “paintstones,” either to write with or lift off pigment for tinting. Only somewhat deviating from my usual content, I wanted to share some of my pictures from @denvermuseumns exhibit on Wild Color- It had such a stunning collection of preserved specimens in all ranges of color, and I was thrilled to see the little section at the end with pigments! My partner and I loved it so much we went a few times, soaking up all of the vibrant colors they had to offer. I do wish they could do something like this just for the range of natural pigments the world has to offer and to spread more knowledge about it, though I acknowledge that a lot of people might not take enough interest for an entire exibit- Still, I can dream! . . . #naturalpigments #wildcolor

I finally visited the show I’ve been dying to see - Vertigo of Color - Matisse, Derain and Fauvism at MFAH. And nothing compares to seeing this work in person! It reinforced my love of #color and why #Matisse and #Derain have played such an important role in shaping modern art. The ability to get up close and see brushstrokes and color mixed directly onto the canvas just makes for a huge thrill!!! Vertigo of Color illuminates the break through ideas of not using natural color but allowing the artist to paint what they feel! I recently had a solo show “Color Bed” celebrating color and form in my work and attributed Matisse as one of my important influences. Viewing this work emphasizes my desire to study his ideas even further. Run to see this show before it’s over!!!! I can’t believe I said, yes, but I did and the contract has been signed. I was invited by Martha at the @winslowartcenter to teach through their online art school. I will be offering two oil and cold wax live zoom classes. The first one is an intro to oil and cold wax and the other is painting abstracted landscapes and will be offered over four weeks. What I like about this platform is that I can interact with students during sessions, and we also have a private message board within our online classroom where I can dialogue with students, and students with each other. “Mistakes are the portals of discovery,” a beautiful reminder from James Joyce. Yesterday I was working on a painting. This painting already had about seven layers on it because it had been a landscape painting I did several years ago. There was an area that always bugged me, so I decided I would “fix” it. Haha, the joke is on me. I had sanded the painting and added a couple layers of fresh oil and cold wax. It was not an attempt to fix a particular area, because it turns out I was painting a new landscape painting. I abandoned the painting, but I left it hanging in my studio, A few weeks ago I decided to turn the aborted abstract landscape into a very large bouquet of abstracted flowers. I painted a vase and added a lot of green to represent leaves. Last week I started to add some color, and yesterday I worked on it with the intention of painting an explosion of color to make a wild arrangement. As I was adding paint, it started to get a bit muddy, and rather than stopping and walking away, I made the impetuous decision to scrape off all of the surface paint. I sprayed everything with solvent, took a metal putty knife, and scraped off all of the recent paint. Freedom. I decided to go in an entirely different direction, creating a simple vase and going from there.
