A year ago, Baby Lukie was diagnosed with a very rare disease called ZTTK, discovered only in 2016. There are no known cures or treatments. At 18 months, Lukie is tube-fed and has not crawled, walked, or talked. He is also at high risk for seizures, and little is known about how the disease will progress. We are racing against the clock to work with world-class scientists to develop a cure for Lukie and other ZTTK patients. A big thanks to Hellen for developing this year's fruit-filled pale ale recipe with guava and grapefruit! We're planning for the OFFICIAL RELEASE PARTY on Saturday 6/3 at #AERONAUTSomerville! To help kick off Pride, we're going to be hosting @thefemmesband for a LIVE MUSIC drag show featuring @severity_stone @mxdykelangelo @restingclownface @sheisdykonic and @wreakingharlowhavoc who will DJ us into the night after the Femmes set! We've got a new NON-ALCOHOLIC PILSNER on draft for you to try! Continuing our exploration of the NA beer world, our brewers are trying out some alternative technologies to ensure our taproom spaces are a little bit more inclusive for those who aren't consuming alcohol. This prototype is light, crisp, and highly drinkable. For added complexity, Mark chose two different, next-gen hop oils for some added hop character that is often missing from NA beers. We'll be pouring this at #AERONAUTSomerville until it's gone, so if you stop by make sure to let us know what you think! We're grateful for the feedback we've received so far, and are excited to continue experimenting!

This week's #staffpick features our wonderful Community Events Coordinator, Brit! They organize it all - from Indie Trivia, to Grooves for Good, wrestling events, art shows, and everything in between. We're so grateful to have such an amazing, dedicated, and creative person willing to help us cultivate community in a meaningful, sustainable way! A lifelong artist himself and up-and-coming drag king (we see you Dykel Angelo 😉), Brit says the most important things to him are supporting Boston's queer/drag scene and spending time with his amazing chosen family 💕 . Brit says their favorite AERONAUT beer ever is Grisette, a Belgian session ale with rustic graininess. It's spicy and earthy, with a low-moderate but clean bitterness and floral notes. Recently, they've been enjoying our Munich Dunkel, a dark lager with smooth, malty flavors of toasted bread and brown bread crust. With hints of toffee, light caramel and a low bitterness, it's the perfect transition beer for this strange zone in between winter and spring ❄️ 🌷 The Dunkel is now on draft at #AERONAUTSomerville and #AERONAUTCannery and it's looking like a perfect, easy-weather weekend to grab a glass 🍻
An ode to ingenuity and the determination of our brewers, FOR GOOD MEASURE is the labor of love that followed several rounds of tinkering, tasting, testing, and re-tasting on our brew floor and in our laboratory. Our Cannery Lead Brewer, Aaron, developed this recipe with the help of our Cannery and Somerville brew staff, and we applaud them all for their persistence 👏 Aaron's goal was to experiment with new IPA styles, to create something nicely full-bodied with a gorgeous orange color, and a pleasant sweetness. . After rounds of prototypes, Aaron believes he successfully hit all of his goals for this beer. The grain bill includes Golden Promise, Simpsons Crystal Light, white wheat, and flaked oats for added sweetness, complexity, and mouthfeel. Magnum, Citra, El Dorado, and Simcoe hops means a symphony of tropical fruit flavors and a slight earthy aroma with pine characteristics for balance. Leo works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure all our freshly brewed favorites end up in our taprooms and in stores right on schedule, and you'll even see him helping out on the brew deck when he can find the time. He's the true definition of a #teamplayer, and we couldn't be more grateful for him! When he's not zipping around in the van, you can find Leo cooking up some delicious Dominican fare for his friends and family (we've had his empanadas - can confirm they are 10/10). . Leo's favorite beer in AERONAUT history is the Mexican Pale Lager Prototype that we had in taprooms at the end of 2022 (but is potentially making a comeback in 2023??? Stay tuned!) Currently, he's been sipping on our Polish Pilsner Prototype! A sub-style of a German Pils, this pale, crisp lager has a bready backbone and just a touch of honey. Plus, herbal hop notes from Polish Lubelski hops and Czech Saaz, with a bit of spice and a smooth bitterness. This pils is only available on draft at #AERONAUTSomerville and only while supplies last 🤪 We promise it'll be worth the trip, I mean just look at that face 😋

Have y'all ever seen something so crystal clear come out of our brew tanks?? We're pretty sure this might be a first for us 🔮 The latest in our experimentation efforts, this is a prototype batch of Lime Hard Seltzer (5.5% ABV) created using an alternative production process that makes it entirely unique from previous batches! This version is lighter than our traditional hard seltzers and most similar to the experience of drinking a lime soda cocktail rather than a tart, fruited beer, which is often how our other hard seltzers are described. The finish is incredibly clean and crisp, with a simpler flavor profile that might be the perfect fit for someone looking for a refreshing, easy-drinking beverage! We're still in the early phases of development, but make sure to drop by our #AERONAUTSomerville taproom so you can give our newest prototype a taste and feel free to let us know your feedback! We love being able to continually investigate new technologies, and hope you enjoy this proto as much as we do!
A spot I don't visit nearly enough--@aeronautbrewing! It's often easy to find their IPA offerings in local restaurants and liquor stores, but I was pleasantly surprised by all the other options on tap at the brewery. I thoroughly enjoyed Kaleidobot, a rice lager with yuzu, and Fazenda, an amber farmhouse ale. Our #staffpick this week is featuring one of our OG employees, Jenn, who was just SO excited to be included that she literally could not stop dancing 💃 As one of our tenured Beertenders, Jenn has been with Aeronaut since 2017, and has been bringing joy into our hearts ever since 🥰 When she's not in the taproom Busting A Move™️ , she can be found hiking around the United States or breaking out those dancing shoes at the closest Phish show 🐟 . When asked about her favorite Aeronaut offering, Jenn had a hard time choosing between our yearly OKTOBERFEST and the famed WHITE SANGRIA HARD SELTZER from last summer ☀️ She loves the malty toastiness of the Oktoberfest and the crushable, light fruitiness of the seltzer. This week our #staffpick, Joe is looking pretty festive! Joe joined our Packaging Line team over the summer and came to us from the DMV area. Fully experienced in all things beer, Joe has been learning the ropes to cellaring and brewing over at the #AERONAUTCannery because who doesn't love some cross-training? When he's not busy making sure all your favorite Aeronaut beers are making their way safely into cans, you can find him reading or riding his bike around town 🚲 . Joe's favorite Aeronaut beer is the Tmavé Pivo, our Czech Dark Lager with Saaz and Sterling hops that is light in body, a little earthy, and subtly roasty. Since that's no longer on tap, he's recently been enjoying our Zwickel Beer, a Vienna-style "rustic" lager that is malty, semi-dry, and well-balanced with German Tettnang and Spalter Select hops. The Zwickel is now on draft at #AERONAUTSomerville and at the #AERONAUTCannery, so make sure to give it a try the next time you join us for a beer!
Mark, Filipe, and Hellen have been hard at work crafting several protos for our #AERONAUTSomerville taproom and we're here to highlight one that has been months in the making - P472, a Local Sumac Sour Ale! During Filipe's visit to @fourstarfarms, he was able to hand-pick staghorn sumac for this beer, so this one has truly been a labor of love 💞 Staghorn sumac is the most common sumac species indigenous to North America and has a high wildlife value, providing food and shelter to numerous native fauna. Traditionally harvested and used to make a lemonade-like drink by Native Americans, the flavor of the sumac berries or "drupes" can be likened to the tang of fresh-squeezed citrus juice - tart and sharp, with a hint of sweetness, and lingering floral notes. . P472 is a farmhouse wheat ale brewed with locally harvested sumac (Thanks Filipe!). Fermented with a Belgian saison yeast along with our house Sour Planet bacteria culture and blended with some Grisette for a sour, lemony ale with soft tannins 🍻 Give it a try (or any of our other new protos) next time you're in Somerville!

This week for our #staffpick, meet the face BEHIND our accounts - Caroline! Caroline started at Aeronaut last summer as a beertender, and has been slowly accumulating a collection of jobs here in the last year and a half 😤 In addition to beertending, she now works in our Marketing department creating graphics and social content for all you wonderful people and does all of our Somerville chalk art signage that you see around the taproom! In her free time, you can find her climbing, giving herself a tattoo, or walking her dog around the Fells 🐕 . Caroline's all-time favorite beer is the Journey To The Center, our annual Pride gose with hibiscus, Himalayan pink salt, and coriander. Recently though, she's been drinking IGC - one of our our newest Double New England IPAs. She loves it because of all its fruity notes that are well-balanced with the Galaxy & Strata hoppiness. It's surprisingly drinkable for a Double IPA 🤷♀️ We've got IGC in cans and on draft across both #AERONAUTSomerville and the #AERONAUTCannery - it's the perfect way to get the weekend started on this beautiful, sunny Friday 🔆
It's Small Business Saturday, and we are so excited to be able to highlight our friends over at @stonecowbrewery in Barre, MA - our gifting partners for the @mabrewersguild Gift Swap! Located in a historic 1830's post and beam barn on a 1000 acre property set among the rolling hills of central Massachusetts, they are a fifth generation dairy-farm-restaurant-and-brewery that are truly a one stop shop for everything from homemade ice cream, to farm-fresh vegetables/dairy/grass-fed beef, and OF COURSE great beer! Owner & Head Brewer, Sean, and his right-hand man, Joe, were kind enough to hand-deliver a variety of their beer offerings and some awesome swag to our #AERONAUTCannery doors, so we got to spend our Friday afternoon walking through our space, comparing operations, and bonding over our brewery stories. Our #AERONAUTSomerville team got to spend their Wednesday afternoon doing some *Important Market Research* tasting the cornucopia of beer from Stone Cow - some of our favorites were Roll In The Hay (their flagship IPA), Farmweiser (an American Lager), and their BlueBARRE sour (10/10 pun). . A HUGE thank you to Stone Cow for our amazing gifts and for taking the time out of their busy day to come hang with us, and of course the MA Brewers Guild for putting this exchange together. We're back with another STAFF PICK and this week, we're featuring our beertender Jaimee! Jaimee joined our front-of-house team last August and has been improving the taproom's cool-ness ever since tbh 💁♀️ Outside of Aeronaut, she is a badass musician who can literally play it ALL. Guitar? Killer. Bass? Absolutely. Drums? You betcha. Vocals? Yes, PLUS recording/mixing all her own tracks??? If you weren't already, you SHOULD be intimidated by this level of talent, clearly. She is a long-time lover of indie, punk, and even indie-punk . Jaimee says her all-time favorite beer is Solar Glare, one of our seasonal Double NEIPAs. Today, Jaimee is sipping one of the newest menu additions, prototype batch #P461, the final iteration of our Black Currant Sour Planet that's going to serve as the finalized recipe for our production-scale batch (coming soon 😮). Back to fill the hole in our hearts now that our Oktoberfest cans are gone, it's ZERO MERIDIAN 🌎 An amber country lager or "landbier" - it's malty but off-dry, delicate, and balanced with lingering noble hop notes. . Inspired by the Franconian lagers of the late 1800s, an all-Munich grain bill pushes the beer toward a rich malt presences that lands somewhere between a Helles and a Pilsner. We use a handcrafted heritage malt made from Bavarian-grown heirloom Barke barley kilned to a slightly darker degree for enhanced body, dark-beer aroma, and richly toasted malt aromatics. The addition of German noble Hallertau Mittelfrueh adds a delicate floral earthiness and just a touch of spice. . In honor of Boston's #MoveInWeekend, this week's #MeetTheTeam is Derek, who ALSO recently moved to Beantown and is one of the newest additions to our #AERONAUTCannery Packaging Team. If you've had one of our latest can releases, he's probably had a hand in getting it to you 🤝 Derek started with us in August and hails from Colorado. As an avid brewery AND sports fan, he's excited to explore the densely packed East Coast beer scene and to see as many @redsox, @nhlbruins, and @celtics games as he can! . When asked what he's been drinking lately, Derek said he's been enjoying the #AERONAUTSomerville prototypes because the can't always get them while working at the Cannery. Recently, he's been sipping P449, an American Blonde Lager aimed at echoing a standard American light beer, but with a bit more character; we're hoping for smooth, crisp, and well-balanced without sacrificing body or flavor. Derek seems to think we're getting pretty close! He's a fan of the extra crispness of this version, likely due to the addition of Southern Aroma hops 🍻

As we head into the weekend, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the last two weeks and the hurt, disappointment, and frustration that has come with them. . On June 24th, 2022 the Supreme Court voted to actively strip American citizens of their human right to be stewards of their own bodies. The right to a safe and legal abortion has been a constitutional right in this country since 1973, and here at Aeronaut, we continue to believe in an individual’s right to choose. Despite this setback, we proudly join others in the fight, support those directly affected by this ruling, and are honored to be partnering with the National Network of Abortion Funds (@abortionfunds) to to make an impact. . Introducing, STILL WE RISE, a Blueberry Lime Sour Ale that will be on tap at the Somerville Brewery and Aeronaut Cannery, starting today.
