Just a short walk from town town you'll find Rainbowls, and independent stop focusing on acai bowls, as well as poké bowls. My order - £9.50 got me the Beautiful Berry bowl; raspberry, strawberry, blueberries, blackberries and banana, with gronala, coconut shavings on top of a blended smoothie. Overall thoughts - Beautifully instagramable, the smoothie bowls are refreshing and fruity. The bowls taste very natural with no added sugary taste, literally like eating a very thick smoothie! I'd say it would be something you've have as a pick-me-up rather than a coffee or unhealthy snack. I especially liked the granola and would ask for some more the next time I'm in. Final thoughts - I've got quite a sweet tooth so I might ask for an extra drizzle of honey if available. Hidden within an industrial park is La Boulangerie Artisan, a French patisserie that lives up to its roots. It focuses on "the artisan tradition where authentic baking is made with craft, time and passion". This is no Greggs. My Order - £5.50 got me the stunning almond croissant and cappuccino in my reusable cup. The Food - Every time I've visited I have to pick up an almond croissant! Coated in sugar, with a filled with almond, each bite is soft and sweet! There's beautifully baked bread, and other treats such as cookies, moulin, financier, pudding, and plenty more sweet pastries! Overall thoughts - 9/10 While a bit out the way, it's worth the visit! There isn't any indoor seating as it's more of a drop-by spot. Everything is fresh, and the bread is gorgeous! The coffee was strong, as it should be. As it's on an industrial complex there isn't exactly a nice view. The picnic benches weren't out when I visited, likely due to the weather, but hopefully this will change as it gets warmer. Final thoughts - Perfect for a pre-picnic stop Be warned, it's only open till 2pm most days, and I've been stuck in a long queue there before! On Monday and Tuesday evening #thechickencoop take over the kitchen at #sandfordparkalehouse, and I've had my eye to check it out for a while. Initial thoughts - I love fried chicken, the crisper the better! Menu features chicken wings, tenders, or cauliflower, as well as mac and cheese, a burger, and selection of loaded fried. My order - £32 got me Chip On Ya Shoulder chicken wings with Chipotle mayo, BBQ wing tenders, mac and cheese, and bacon loaded fries and that was PLENTY for two people! The Food - Couldn't believe how filling the meal was! Chicken wings were crispy, fries were loaded, and plenty of sauce on everything! So flavourful and chicken was crispy and moist throughout. Visited Gianni Restorante in Cheltenham, just beside the bus garage, and grabbed a delicious meal for lunch! Initial thoughts - This is a MUST for anyone in Cheltenham. I've been plenty of times and it's one of my favourites! My Order - The £8.95 lunch deals features any pasta with a side of garlic bread or salad. I chose the Penne Puttanesca - Penne with tomato sauce, bacon, olives, capers, garlic and chilli with a side salad, and also got the classic Lasagna with a side of garlic bread. The Food - Absolutely delicious! It was creamy, and the chilli gave a great kick which wasn't overpowering. However, I was so jealous of the lasagne as it was utterly divine! Cheesy, not too meaty and LOADED with a tomatoey sauce, cooked perfectly. The garlic bread was soft, and side salad had very juicy tomatoes! Overall thoughts - 10/10! Portion size was great for the price, and cheaper than most lunch you can buy, and yet is a sit down meal. Final thoughts - Will have to go back for the lasagne alone! Visited The Steamhouse in Cheltenham, so-called 'home of the bagel', and it didn't disappoint! Initial thoughts - I had visited when it first opened in Chelt back in 2022, and didn't enjoy my first choice, but wanted to give it another go. My order - £10 got me The Cali in an 'everything' bagel which had Grilled Halloumi, Scrambled Eggs, Seasoned Avocado & Sweet Chilli Jam, along with a pot of hash brown tots. While the price has increased since my last visit, the additional tots makes it a good well rounded meal. The food - Really enjoyed the chilli jam and hallumi especially, and the tater tots were super crispy with a good amount of salt. The egg was fried rather than Scrambled, and the bagel wasn't toasted, which gave it a chewyer feel. Overall thoughts - 6.5/10 Pushing out for a bit more of an expensive lunch, but definitely worth a try! Plenty of options to choose from. As I got a take-away, I felt there should have been some sort of dip for the tater tots, but still great on their own!
