Not only was last night the sighting of the Northern Lights - a first for all of us, it was the Cub Scouts crossover. We couldn’t be prouder of our Big Kid! He started a year later than most kids his age at the rank of Tiger. He wasn’t sure it was even something he wanted to do. The Covid shut down was coming to an end and we were looking for something for him to do & to keep him engaged with his peers, while learning and growing outside of academics. I had seen a sign for the local Cub Scouts and knew Adam was an Eagle Scout - that was my extent of knowledge 😂 I want to send a special thank you to Gregory, Bill & Kristi and all other leaders that helped Adam and Killian with making memories and building their scout based relationship back in Bristol. Thank you guys for allowing the Twins to join in whenever they wanted and teaching them the ropes! If it wasn’t for them, these guys wouldn’t have made it to where we are today. ❤️ ❤️ Y’all will forever be out Scout Family! To our Scout family here - thank you for welcoming us with open arms, including us right from the beginning and never making us feel like the ‘new family’. It’s made this transition simple and painless. Thank you Katherine for taking Adam in and using his love for scouts to help keep our large and rowdy den meetings flowing. Mr. Chris thank you for taking our scouting experience to a whole new level - Blue & Gold was EPIC!!! Marilyn, Tobey-Heather and Katherine Collins y’all are my moms! I can’t thank you guys enough for helping me find friends in our new pack and making me comfortable! With all that being said Adam was recognized for his 10+ years in Scout (14 to be exact!) He has also taken on COR for our Pack as well!! Killian is now a Webelo!! Bina & Tank are now Lions!! They collected 444 pounds of food donated and 150 pounds of hygiene products to Maple Valley Food Bank and Vine Maple Place, plus $260 in donations. Hello Pack 360! We are in need of adult volunteers for the Summer Camps. What's in it for me you ask? Well, not only does your scout get to participate in elective activities that they would normally not do with their Den, but also... Adult Staff with a Cub Scout who works the whole 5 day week. Cub is FREE. Adult staff who works partial days, pays $40 per day for days that the adult doesn't volunteer. Fee is $200 per week. This is easy math! If the adult staff has two Cubs at Day Camp, the second one is $100 for the week. For our new Pack Families who don’t know what our Blue and Gold Banquets are.. read more below! Blue and Gold is a tradition in Cub Scout packs. They are a celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the BSA on February 8, 1910, and therefore usually take the place of the February pack meeting. Often, badges of rank are awarded. The Arrow of Light ceremony may even be included as the 5th graders cross over to a troop. Sometimes community leaders or special guests are invited to attend. The meal can be a pot-luck dinner or other arrangements can be made – whatever suits your pack. Save the Date! This year we will be combining our Bridging and Blue and Gold events on Friday Feb 24! No TI’TAINS in this post. Had just wanted to say… So proud of our middle son, Benjamin, this morning! Last Saturday, our oldest son, Hunter, tested for—and passed—his blue belt test in TKD (Taekwon-Do). This Saturday morning, Benjamin and I partook in an annual tradition of his Cub Scouts Pack 170–helping to light up our local St. Paul’s today by preparing, and setting out, their luminaries for their Christmas Eve service tonight. Hunter even came along to show support for his younger brother! It was incredibly cold out. We dressed very warm. The easy thing for him/us to do would have been just to stay home. Yet, they both braved the cold weather—albeit, with frequent trips back into the church for warmth—and, along with Ben’s fellow Cub Scouts, did a really great job here! Really great ‘teachable moment’ for teaching our boys about the importance of honoring their/our commitments, too! Scouting For Food is this weekend (Saturday 11/12/2022 at 9AM)! It's the annual food-collection drive run by Verdugo Hills Council-Boy Scouts of America. Starting at 9am on Saturday 11/12/2022, Scouts will revisit houses to pick up canned NON-PERISHABLE, NON-EXPIRED food donations (NO GLASS). Unopened pet food (ie cat or dog food) is also welcomed! **Please place donations in a visible location with the Scouting For Food Door Hanger (or if you don’t have the hanger, place a clear note saying it is for Scouting For Food).** The collected food items will be delivered to needy families all throughout the council’s borders (Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock, La Crescenta and Sunland-Tujunga areas).
