Still catching up on #DTIYSfashionart from @the_sewing_room_alameda but I had to do this one because it’s a face. I have been drawing faces since I was a teenager and only now feel like I do it well. I did this freehand just looking at the reference and there are some big differences (I compared later by dragging them into one file) but my brain says close enough. The bigger challenge was seeing the values to get the contrast through all that color. #notquite The best aspect of teaching others is I pay way more attention to my own process. It’s a bountiful journey. 💖💛☔️
Took a break from doing taxes to sketch this model because I ❤️ rendering satin! I’m behind on the weekly #DTIYSfashionart challenge but that’s how these things go when you have adulting to do. 😂 I’ll put a close up in my stories. All you do is drop in that base color and slowly sketch your highlights on top, keeping the brightest part to the center of the fold.

Did another #dtiysfashionart sketch from @the_sewing_room_alameda. I liked the skull I did last time and tried to repeat it, and I'm happy with it even if it's a little cartoony. (Maybe I've been watching too much One Piece? 😅💀 Never mind, that's impossible.) Details are hard to work in on this scale, and it was fun practice. If I did it again I probably wouldn't add the hoop earrings, because with the all black thread, they sort of look like I tried to do ears, haha. How would YOU sketch the model in the example picture? Took a break from Etsy stuff to relax and make something. Here's my take on @the_sewing_room_alameda 's weekly #dtiysfashionart challenge! I ended up making her head too big so I ran out of room to do the feet. 😅 But I liked how she turned out and I'm trying to let go of the need for things to be perfect so I kept her like that. The pink thread is a nod to the pretty shoes I couldn't fit.
