One of the best views of Tokyo Sky Tree is right by the Sumida River in Asakusa. Literally sat by the riverbank to pause and enjoy the peace and quiet. A bit too early for the Kochia season but nonetheless it was still beautiful. Best to go second to third week of October where the Kochia hills are sure to be red as cherries. Entrance to the park is not expensive but traveling 120kms away from Tokyo can be. Booked a tour from Klook at around 5,700PHP (bus, side trips and all you can eat lunch) and I would recommend just traveling DIY for half the price. Never been to the East side of Kyoto before and I was so surprised how the architecture is beautifully preserved here! The Pagoda seen behind me called Yasaka-no-to and is in fact the oldest one in Kyoto built in 592!! 😮😮😮 Planned out a DIY walking tour and I’m preparing a post to share it with you! Visiting UNESCO world heritage sites is always a must in my itinerary! Kyoto’s gem, Kiyomizuedera has been founded since the year 780. 😱 It is best known for its wooden stage that peeks through the main hall. (see last photo- it’s beautiful!) Sadly, the roof of the main hall has been under renovation since two years ago until March 2020. We opted not to pay for 400YEN to enter anymore. But will surely be back to appreciate its majestic views! The last time we here it was winter packed with soooo many tourists which made it so difficult to even snap a photo or two. To our surprise, we found the famous Bamboo Forest with little to no soul for a couple of seconds hence a few good shots with the serene bamboo giants of Arashiyama. The only catch was this time we went during Summer at 33 degrees hot, a little after lunch! 😆 Thankfully, since the climate is not new to Filipinos like us, the breeze and shelter of the bamboos were enough to keep us cool. Up and early to shoot at the famous Glico Sign! Wouldn’t mind posing and making awra cause there were no people in sight! Lol. To be fair you don’t actually have to be that early --we shot this at 8AM on a Saturday and there were still no people around! Didn’t have to take time doing my makeup too! Just kilay, lipstick and my latest discovery - Magnetic Eyelashes!!! 😮🧲 I’m sure you’ve seen me talk about it on my stories during my japan trip so here’s a quick but informative review on them! • Yay!!! 1. Surprisingly lightweight! I’m wearing their most ‘extra’ one called FRIDA and it’s so so bold and beautiful! Full on lashes without the weight! Tried several falsies before and the weight is highly comparable! Super gaan and non irritating to wear! 2. Reusable up to 60 times! That makes it highly sustainable and more value for money! Your normal falsies would cost you 300-500PHP per pair. These ones start at 1,599 —that’s roughly about 30PHP per use! 😱 3. They have hair-like strands! Included a close up boomerang and you would easily notice that the strands are thin and doesn’t look full on ‘plastic fake’. I’m sure you’ll agree! 4. Easy on your natural lashes!!! This was a game changer for me. You don’t damage your natural lashes as the magnets slide off easily. So if you’re Chinita and not so blessed with thick long lashes like me, this will let you say good bye to lash glue and expensive lash extensions! Nayyyy... 1. Super frustrating to put on at first. I gave up actually! Lol I had to ask my sister for help and we just kept practicing til we got the hang of it. If you have these already, trust me don’t give up girl! You can do it! And they’re so worth it! Lakas maka-ganda! Obvious naman di ba? Haha! 😂 • Tip! It was easier to put on when I had left over waterproof mascara from the day before. My lashes were already a bit thicker - thus easier for the magnets to hold. Just clean your magnetic lashes after use for sanitation! • Check out @heyluxxlash for details! If you’ve tried Godiva this is two times better!!!! I wonder why we didn’t discover this on our previous japan trips, it’s widely distributed everywhere! Extremely worth it for 500YEN! My face when I had zero clue we were trekking for an hour vs my face after seeing the underwhelming view when we got up. 🙃 • Google photos showed a very nice view up at Mt. Inari! (see collage) I was dismayed to find out the real view when we got up! (last photo) It seems that the trees grew bigger and I didn’t even recognize that it was “the view” already! In my head I was thinking, oh look we’re high up already! Just a few more! Only to find out that was it! 🤭 Haha! (That explains the quick poor quality snap on the last photo lol) I guess we were spoiled of having too many beautiful Mountain View’s in the Philippines that this seemed so underwhelming. If you’re game for the workout though why not! But I definitely wouldn’t recommend doing it in the summer. The heat was so bad we were sweating like pigs! The world’s first 100 year old Japanese townhouse turned Starbucks! 😍 This specific one in Kyoto is so unique as it embodies both commercial and heritage. It seemed like literally walking into a traditional Japanese house with tatami mat seating, silk scrolls and a zen garden! The only disappointment for me was my expectation of their Matcha Frappe to be a bit more authentic —Kyoto after all being so near from the matcha capital Uji, but turns out it tastes exactly the same (commercialized) as how it’s served elsewhere.
