“Memories may fade, but the imprint they leave on our hearts is everlasting” We found an exceptionally large and beautiful patch of forget me not in one of our favourite parks the other week. My mother suffered from dementia, being able to remember things is something that I hope I can retain with me as I grow old. So these little flowers mean so much to me. Sandy toes, and sandy snoot, but why the sad face? Yesterday post was about playing fetch with sticks. I personally would prefer to throw a ball to Jessie. But we don’t because once she caught it, she would run away and then run around the beach digging holes trying to bury it. She must have dug more than half a dozen holes, none of them she was happy to part her ball with. After half an hour, we decided to take it away from her 😅😂. Here’s the sandy nose from all the failed attempts trying to bury it. The problem is when she sees other dogs playing fetch with a ball, she would try and steal it. Once she got it, she will run away and start digging holes again. If we see someone playing fetch with their dogs, we will always put Jessie back on a lead. But sometimes she sees it first 🙈, so dog dad will run after her to try and get it back. This princess wears flippers.” Jessie actually doesn’t know how to swim, I keep meaning to take her to a swimming school but I am not sure it’s something that she likes to do. I think that is ok, she seems to enjoy just wading? My pot of gold at the end of the rainbow 🌈 We are heading home after a lovely week away at the Isle of Wight. At the start I was worried that it would be wet all week but we managed to escape being rained on most days. Jessie had a really good time going to the beach. The ferry crossing from Portsmouth was so efficient, smooth and dog friendly, it’s really encouraging me to explore into travelling to other islands in future. “I don’t let my age define me, but the side effects are getting harder to ignore.” Jessie is not very old but I have noticed that as she is getting older, her legs get tired much easier. Since her recent illness, I have stopped all the supplements. Now that she is stable and is getting better, I am revisiting her food and supplements. Because she may have pancreatitis, she will continue to be on low fat diet to avoid it reoccurring again. Today, six years ago on my birthday we brought Jessie home. In so many ways she saved me and kept me safe and well. Happy gotcha day Jessie! Yesterday, we also celebrated Whisper’s 13th birthday. We love woodland walks, we love beach walks, but sometimes it’s nice to do some urban walks. Battersea is one of my favourite parts of town. After all, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is where I met and rehomed all my animals. There’s also a beautiful park there. Now there’s a really dog friendly complex in the form of the Battersea Power Station. It’s actually odd when a shop or restaurant is not dog friendly. Restaurants where their central policy is not dog friendly, their branch at Battersea welcomes dog. What a great place to visit. We had the most wonderful time yesterday with Jessie. It’s so wonderful to see her being happy and out enjoying some sunshine. We went to one of our favourite parks and we even let her off lead. She was so good and we are so proud of her. Rain has arrived today, but I think we are still going to go out and have a nice day. When one of the vet said that Jessie was old, that really made me so sad. I think the vet only intended to make sure that I care for her not like a young adult anymore. I wish time will slow down so that my time with my animals will last a bit longer. Jessie’s recent illness really scared me how fragile they all are, even though they look perfectly ok, they can suddenly fall seriously ill. It’s humpday! We took Jessie back to the vet for a checkup and they have prescribed some more medication and hopefully will help stop her diarrhea. I really wish I can talk to animals like Dr Dolittle😢. I love it when Jessie smiles. I have started to feed Jessie with some home cook chicken with rice, sweet potatoes and a bit of GI food mixed in. She seems to be eating that now. She still has a bit of diarrhea but I hope that in time she will be better. What food do you feed your pup with? Can’t believe it’s Monday again! Jessie has always been a very picky eater. She is very talented at spitting the tiniest bits of food that she doesn’t like and leave it in the bowl. So having to feed her GI food with her medication is a real challenge 🤒😅. Any tips as to how to give medicine to a picky eater that needs to go on a bland diet? My Jessie is home now. After being told last night that the cause of her illness was gastrointestinal issues, we are now told that she has pancreatitis. I am not really sure what caused her pancreatitis as I thought we have always been very careful with her food. So I am feeling very guilty for not looking after her properly 😭. Jessie is going on a low fat diet now. If you know what food to give her, please let me know . When we picked her up from the vet she looked so happy to see us. She has been sleeping since we got home. Both of our cats have come to check her out too 💜. I am so glad to have Jessie home. My poor Jessie is not well. She turned very sick very quickly and has been vomiting and has diarrhoea. She has to stay behind at the vet for tests and medication. When we visited her last night she cried. I have never heard her cry before. I have more photos we took at Welford park amongst beautiful snowdrops. So a few more days of Jessie and snowdrops to go. I also found out that due to the rain and unusually warm weather, the snowdrops had gone off a week and a half earlier than expected. Apparently they had an infestation of caterpillars due to the weather. Swipe to see their beautiful snowdrop carpet we saw when we were there this year. Beautiful nature!
