イギリスで春の訪れを告げる花であるスノードロップの名所Welford Park🌸 この季節に約1ヶ月間だけオープンします🥰 …ですが、なんと今年は少なくとも1998年以降最も降水量が多い2月だったらしく、スノードロップは早々と枯れてしまったとのこと🥀 行こうかと思ってホームページ見たらそのように書いてあったので、やっぱりやめよっかなーとも思ったのですが、「スノードロップ終わっちゃったけど、他の花咲いてるから来てねー」とあったので、今週末で一般公開終わっちゃうしなーと思い直し、とりあえず行ってきました🙌 スノードロップが一面に咲き乱れているはずであろうエリアは、緑の平原と化し、数えるくらいしか白い花を見つけることは出来ませんでしたが、他のエリアには水仙やクロッカス、クリスマスローズなどが綺麗に咲いていて、パーク内も小川が流れていてのどかな雰囲気でお散歩には良いところでした🥰 ロンドンからは車で1時間半くらいのようですが、私は電車とバスを乗り継いで、かつ安めのチケットで行ったので、乗り継ぎの時間なども含めると4時間弱かかりました🚃🚌 バスは2時間に一本なので、逃すとそもそも行けなくなるし帰れなくなる😂笑 自分1人ならまだしも、ワンオペで0歳児を連れて行ったので、ちょっと冷や冷やしながらの旅でした💦 プチ旅行には良かったですが、車で行けるのであれば車で行くのに越したことはないですね🤔 My daughter and I visited Welford Park in Berkshire. It's famous for snowdrops, but due to the rainy weather this year, they had already finished blooming. However, we really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere with narcissuses, crocuses, and Christmas roses in full bloom. When drink and music are the main event! 🏰 The Venue - The beautiful Welford Park @welfordpark 👩❤️👨 The Happy Couple - Josh and Toni These gorgeous people came to us to talk about how we could cover the drink aspect of their special day. Drink and music was the main aim of the wedding! Now we knew there would be logistical obstacles to overcome as being in the middle of field, we had no access to running water. Lots of prep was needed! What WAS in the plan 👍🏽 🍹 Pimms, soft drinks and buckets of beers on the oak barrel bar as arrival drinks. 🍷 Table wines 🍋 Limoncello and shot glasses on every table! ☕️ Tea and coffee station for the evening 🍸 A full bar from start to finish including all the glassware and tableware too. What WAS NOT in the plan 👎🏼 ⛈ Torrential rain all day (it was summer after all) 🐝 Thousands of wasps. You would think the rain might have kept them away, apparently they don’t mind the rain. 💦 Soaking wet staff Despite all the challenges, the team were unflappable as always and it was a huge success. The joys of a summertime wedding. I have more photos we took at Welford park amongst beautiful snowdrops. So a few more days of Jessie and snowdrops to go. I also found out that due to the rain and unusually warm weather, the snowdrops had gone off a week and a half earlier than expected. We went to our local park yesterday but with all the rain recently the park was flooded. Luckily I was wearing my wellies, so it wasn’t too much of an issue. 💚 Snowdrops thrive amongst the beech wood, riverbanks of the River Lambourn and the lovely gardens with winter flowering shrubs at Welford Park. I enjoyed a guided tour by Deborah Puxley, the owner of @welfordpark . What an impressive site to visit in February! On the site of the present house and church stood a Norman Monastery. The monks used the snowdrops to decorate their church for Candlemas. These snowdrops are still around after centuries ... there is a stunning collection of cultivars today at Welford Park. 📷 2024, February 14th 💚 Die Schneeglöckchen blühen massenhaft in Welford Park ... im Buchenwäldchen, entlang der Ufer des Flusses Lambourn und in den traumhaften Gärten mit den winterblühenden Sträuchern. Deborah Puxley, die Eigentümerin von Welford Park, führte über das Anwesen. Welch eindrucksvoller und wunderschöner Ort, den man hier im Februar besuchen kann! Das heutige Haus und die Kirche stehen auf dem Grund eines früheren Normannischen Klosters. Die Mönche pflanzten Schneeglöckchen, um ihre Kirche an Lichtmess zu schmücken. ウェルフォードパーク スノードロップの森 最近投稿しようとすると画像が粗くなると言うか… ちょっと不具合でしょうか… でもトライしてみます。 ロンドンから車で1時間と少し。 名前のごとく雪が積もっているかのように真っ白な花が広がる森。 森の中には川も流れ、クロッカスやクリスマスローズも咲いていて、楽しげに流れる水の音を聞きながら、可愛らしく咲く花たちを愛でながらのウォーキングは自ずと足取りが軽くなります😊 2時間ほど歩いたでしょうか。 森の中の歩道にはウッドチップが敷き詰められていて柔らかく歩きやすかったのですが、ところどころぬかるみもあり、長靴を履いて来ている人が多かったように思います。 イギリスの冬らしい曇り空で、向かう途中は雨も降りましたが、現地では止んでいました。 イギリスの冬は曇りだったら良い天気👍 #ロンドン生活 #ロンドン日記 #ウェルフォードパーク #welfordpark #スノードロップ #snowdrop
