I just had to take a moment to share something special with you. I've been fortunate enough to connect with so many amazing and sweet humans through my work, and it's truly heartwarming to see the incredible friendships that can come from a simple custom appointment. There's one story in particular that I just have to tell you about. Rick Holbrook came in to design an engagement ring for his then-boyfriend, Todd Hulet (now husband), and from the moment we met, we hit it off and became instant friends. Right before Covid hit, our bond was still growing, but when the pandemic struck, our worlds got even smaller, and Rick wound up in my bubble. We spent all holidays together and every Sunday for two years. It's been a wild and amazing journey, and I'm so grateful for our friendship. @hcarbornauts Came in with her original vintage opal enagement ring and one sapphire earring family heirloom. She wanted to reset her engagement for several reasons. Her engagement ring setting felt delicate and she was worried about being rough on it, while playing music and she also wanted it to sit nicely up against her rose gold wedding band. To make the ring even more special and personal to her, she wanted to add the heirloom sapphires as well from the single earring. We created a band that encased the opal in a beautiful wide band so it was more protected. We set it with 6 prongs and changed the setting to be east west and burnished set her sapphires, and made sure the single diamond from her original ring was still set close to her opal in homage to the original engagement ring. We sprinkled in a few more diamonds to add some glittering sparkle for contrast up against the newly added moody dark blue sapphires. For comfort, we tapered the back of the band so she could bend her fingers easily but still have the statement and modern look of a wide cigar band. Surprise 40th wedding anniversary gift ❤️. We went off a sketch that was drawn many years ago in the most perfectly kept little sketch book that had my other ideas and doodles over the years. It felt special getting a glimpse into another creatives brain. His + Hers 14kt yellow gold bands. The two black onyx inlays represent each individual in the relationship. Black onyx is a stone that offers its bearer immensely powerful vibrations of protection, willpower, focus and strength. The Ruby traditionally represents an inner flame of a strong marriage that has lasted 40 years and is still burning. Super romantic. Loved the meaning / symbolism. Nothing makes jewelry more special than it capturing a moment in time. The husband found us through the tried and true old school word of mouth. 🙏

Behind the custom with @atfollansbeeart Who was the original piece from and What does it mean to you? The original piece was given to me by my sister, who inherited it from our grandmother, who inherited it from my great aunt. My sister gave me the ring when I gave birth to my first son, whose birthstone is a sapphire. My husband had it repurposed for me as a gift after I had our second son. Both my boys have big blue eyes, and I love how the blue sapphire and diamonds kind of resemble a blue eye. To me, this ring really symbolizes my love for my family. It has passed through many hands, finally coming to me in celebration of my own growing family. What was the occasion or reason you decided to reset this heirloom? My husband wanted to gift me a ring from KING + CURATED as a present after my second pregnancy, since he knew how much I loved your work. I had this heirloom sapphire and diamond ring that my sister had given me after my first son was born, but it was platinum and way too small for me. My husband and I decided to repurpose the stones in a new, yellow gold custom design so that I could actually wear it and enjoy it. Why did you choose KING + CURATED? I live in Beacon, and have admired KING + CURATED jewelry for years! Lauren has such excellent style and taste, and I felt confident she would understand what I was looking for and could create a really elegant, timeless piece. SHE DID! I love it. Julia was roommates in college with a good friend of mine from high school, and they came to the party together. She was wearing a white tee shirt with jean shorts, and was using this red bandana as a hair tie - I thought she was a very classic beauty - just like the engagement ring! We didn't talk for a while after that party, but once we moved to the city a few months later we started seeing each other more often. Our first dinner-and-a-movie date was January 15th, 2015 - haven't looked back since! How did you propose? - After taking WAY too long to propose, I finally decided that I would make the move during a trip to Costa Rica on Julia's 30th birthday. Our first night there, we were walking a quiet stretch of the beach during sunset and I got down on one knee and asked the big question! Why did you choose KING + CURATED? - Julia told me a while ago that when we got engaged, she wanted her ring from K+C, so she had already decided. For me, I knew I wanted to use a smaller, boutique shop for the personal touch and experience. Lauren and Todd run an amazing store, are very talented and are passionate about what they do, and that passion really shines through during the custom design process and end result. #BehindTheCustom This special piece was constructed using family heirlooms from a ring and necklace passed down in the matriarchy. The idea behind the design was to construct the diamonds to looks like a shooting star. One that is the front soaring through the galaxy and the small rocks and the magical dust of light trail they leave behind 🤩. The thought process behind the shooting star concept, was that because the clients, a Mother and Father, were creating this necklace for their daughter's birthday. And as a kid and to this day- they always called her their shooting star.
New opal pendant just hit the shop! I found opals that reminded me of the lines of Saturn. We made a custom mixed setting half bezel and half prong 😍. Modern meets classic has been happening over and over design wise for me. The claw prongs are doubled up on each side in 14kt yellow gold with a warm/soft cable chain (18" with 16" option). We met while I was bartending and he came in with his dentist/orthodontist buddies who had been coming in for years and as he remember I talked to him, but I think I just talked to the group as a whole lol. My cousin’s wife is his receptionist so he got my cousin to call me and asked if He could have my number….I found out a couple years ago he promised her a raise if it worked and he did give her a raise lol How did he give you your 10year anniversary/engagement ring? He had my oldest bring me upstairs to show me something and when I came back down they were all (her husband and 3 other boys) waiting for me. Phil made a little speech and gave me the ring. Why King + Curated? I never got an engagement ring when we first got married because I didn’t know what I liked and honestly I didn’t really want him to spend the money on something I might not love so we waited ten years. (Designer notes, *So Honored!) Michele owned a lovely boutique called @stylestorehouse . She was the first Beacon business that I spilt the beans to on the news that I was opening a jewelry shop. She decided she wanted to grow her family and be with them more, so she sold her business that is now operating online. She always pulled our east end together and always made everyone who walked through her shop doors welcome. Always quick with a joke and endless amazing energy. We miss her presence so much on main street so much. So very touched and honored to make this ring for her. Love to Hubs Phil too ❤️

First - I need to give you some background and why am I so appreciative of what you have done and what it has meant to me. I lost my father to COVID on January 26t and then on February 26th a man who was like a brother to me took his own life. I was devastated and lost in grief. I debated whether or not to follow through with our appointment or to hold off. I am so glad I did not wait. Our meeting gave me hope and made me look forward to the happiness that lay ahead and not the sadness that lay behind. Though I had never met you I trusted you fully to realize this disjointed vision I had in my mind. I knew as soon as I saw the ring that it was perfect - I was amazed but not surprised. Most people think an anchor just holds a ship in place. But did you know that when a wooden ship of sail was becalmed with no wind in their sails, or even just stuck, they would use the anchor to get the ship moving? They would put it in a small boat and Sailors would row it out in front of the ship where they would drop it. Sailors on the ship would then heave around on the line and slowly pull the ship forward until it could move on its own. So that ring, and that anchor, were what helped pull me through when I had no wind in my sail. Here's the story: Jessica's Mother and best friend both happened to be in town at the same time this week so it was a bit of a target of opportunity. I told them both yesterday that we were going to do it today - on the USS CONSTITUTION here in Boston. USS CONSTITUTION was built in 1797 and is the longest commissioned warship in the US Navy and was also central to our first trip together to Boston back 2014. A wonderful Sailor onboard let us into the Captain's cabin. It was there that I dropped to one knee and proposed to Jessica. She loves the ring - it is absolutely perfect...Thank you so much! Cheers!
