Our amazing 6th graders just finished reading "A Long Walk to Water" by Linda Sue Park, and were inspired by the real-life story of Salva Dut, who founded the non-profit Water For South Sudan. Our students answered his call to take on the Iron Giraffe Challenge to raise $1000 for a new well. They went above and beyond with creative fundraising activities - a cake walk and pie-eating contest, Chipotle fundraiser, bake sale, and market with homemade slime and jewelry, stood in the rain to ask for donations, and A "Freestyle for Water" event where they earned pledges to get around the track as many times and creatively as possible! Im Landkreis Dingolfing-Landau und in ganz Niederbayern ist die Gefahr, Opfer einer Straftat zu werden, deutlich geringer als andernorts. Das belegen die Zahlen im Sicherheitsbericht für das Jahr 2023, den Niederbayerns Polizeipräsident Roland Kerscher nun Landrat Werner Bumeder vorgestellt hat. Im Vergleich zum Vorjahr seien die Straftaten sogar nochmals zurückgegangen. Kamen 2022 im Landkreis noch 2.995 Straftaten auf 100.000 Einwohner, waren es 2023 noch 2.779. Stolz ist man auf eine sehr gute Aufklärungsquote von 67,4 %, die noch höher als im bayernweiten Schnitt liegt. Landrat Werner Bumeder bedankte sich für die hervorragende Arbeit der Polizei und versprach gleichzeitig, diese auch künftig bestmöglich zu unterstützen. "Jede Straftat ist eine zuviel, aber die Zahlen für unseren Landkreis sind doch beruhigend. Das gibt ein gutes Sicherheitsgefühl", so der Landrat. Reflecting on 2022, members of the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council (MEIBC) undoubtedly recall a momentous juncture that reshaped the landscape for Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs). During this significant period, official communication reverberated throughout the MEIBC, bearing news of a landmark triumph for small businesses. For the first time in the Council’s history, the voices of SMMEs resonated, breaking a decade-long silence marked by the non-signatory stance of some employers’ organisations and employers. MEIBC Industry members must be reminded that the resistance was fueled by concerns over exorbitant wage rates at that time. However, after years of impasse, a breakthrough was achieved through extensive dialogues with various stakeholders within the Council.
