In 2019 I started reading about an impressive right-handed pitching prospect from @lamiradabaseball by the name of @jaredjones17. His father had played in @milb, and Jared was viewed as an early round @mlb pick. I wrote him before the season, and he couldn’t have been more generous, signing my items and enclosing some extras. The @pittsburghpirates popped him in the second round in ‘20. He made his MLB debut Saturday, striking out 10 in 5.2 innings, as Pittsburgh downed the @marlins, 9-3, in Miami. He recorded an astounding 22 whiffs. Looking forward to his future in the ‘Burgh! In 2018-2019, I spent a ton of time with the La Mirada Baseball team. I covered them a lot. No matter what event I was at, no matter the state, there they were bringing their signature fire and energy. I was even required by the team to shoot from their dugout during an entire tournament because I was 'good luck'. "For the photos!" became a rally cry because the team knew when they played hard, the photos turned out epic. Jared Jones was part of that team. I have had the pleasure of getting to know him and following his career. As soon as I heard he was making his debut, I began looking to see if I could get to Miami. I knew he was going to go out there and deal. Of course, he is dealing, carrying that confidence on the mound that I got so used to seeing. Congratulations Jared! So proud of you! Shawn Dumser is in his 5th & Final season at Hope International University in 2021. Back in 2016, he was a massive piece of an amazing La Mirada High School club that finished 1st in the Suburban League with an overall record of 23-8 & 11-1 within League. Dumser led his team with 67.1 innings on 34Ks & a 0.83ERA. He Shutout Lakewood after 7 innings of no hit ball, and punched out 9 against Mayfair after 7 innings of work on 2 Hits & 1ER. Dumser hearded to Hope International the following year in 2017. In 2018, he tossed 46.2 innings which has been the most thus far. The 2019 & 2020 seasons saw his play limited, but now in 2021, Dumser has already tossed 36 innings with 21Ks. In his very first game of 2021, he tossed 5 innings with No Earned Runs, on 4 Hits & 6Ks against Bethesda. Dumser also Shutout Arizona Christian for 4 frames on 4Ks. Most recently, the Righty had a good outing against Westmont, in which he kept it to 1 Run after 4.2 innings. We want to congratulate him for always keeping his club in contention when he's up there.
