For Sale, Mk2 Fiesta 1.1 ghia resto project 1988 F reg. Bought this year's ago to do a conversion with, but I've decided it would be worth restoring rather than modifying as there aren't many about now. And I won't get round to doing it. It's 95% complete. Doors, bonnet, boot are all there and in good condition. The shell itself is mainly good just needs the front end replacing (it comes with new wings and front panel) a few repairs in the boot and floorpan and the drivers rear arch finishing (again it comes with new repair panels) Sills and Passenger rear arch have been repaired and replaced to a high standard. Engine and gearbox are there and originals. Interior is there and all in good condition,has all been wrapped and bagged up when the car was stripped. Readers’ Cars, Rosie Waterworth’s Mk2 Fiesta Ghia After her Dad bought a Mk3 Escort 1.6 Ghia Automatic to take to some car shows, Rosie realised how much fun it was. After a couple of seasons of riding ‘shotgun’ with him she decided that she fancied a slice of the action! So, after looking at the other Fords for some inspiration Rosie decided that a tidy little Fiesta might fit the bill. So in August 2022 she settled on this Stratos silver 1.1 MK2 Ghia, affectionately known as Gariboldi as the registration ends in GBD. Rosie set to work giving the Fiesta its first service for a long time. The aim for the Fiesta is to keep the car as close to original as possible to preserve it rather than restore it. Rosie admits that the Fiesta isn’t perfect and she is on the lookout for a pair of replacement front wings and a new bonnet, but for the moment she’s just happy to be out enjoying the Fiesta.. Tegan Hogan’s Mk2 Fiesta Tegan has made a wise choice here, as a first car… a 950cc Fiesta! Tegan bought the car for her 18th birthday from a guy that had given it a bit of a ‘Rat look’ and rattle-can painted the whole car. She has plans to rub it down this summer and have it painted in Ford Ceramic blue. The little Fiesta has only covered 29,000 miles in its lifetime and only had four owners, so it was a good base to modify… Tegan has fitted 50mm lowering springs and an XR2 exhaust. She has also bought a 1.3 cc engine and 5-speed gearbox from an Escort that’s waiting to find its way under the bonnet. For the moment though she’s enjoying driving the car as it is, roof rack and all! She admits it’s slow but slow and steady wins the race in her book. So after my trip to herbies last week I decided to ignore the car for a while, she drove, she didn’t break, I had a great day but the steering wheel wobble does take the fun out of it a bit. Having changed everything already, experimented with air pressures I decided to buy a ‘camber’ measuring thing which I had some spare time today to play with. I’ve definitely made some adjustments but I won’t get to go for a drive today but hopefully this week and we’ll see if that’s helped.
