I didn't expect this to happen! 😲 I love photographing beach sessions and as anyone that has been to the beach knows, it can be a bit windy at times. And for this engagement session, it was a little extra windy on this particular cool, spring morning. No worries for me though, I photograph a lot of beach sessions. I knew exactly how to place this loving couple just right so that the wind-blown hair would look great in the photos - and things were going really well. The bride-to-be had asked me about doing a photo of her jumping into her fiance's arms, and he is a firefighter so we knew that it would be no trouble for him. We were even able to get a little closer to the water's edge without worrying about anyone falling into the cold water. And no one fell in the water! But what I didn't expect was for him to spin around - and for her cute - and very short - skirt to fly up over her bare bum! 💕 Thankfully, we had the beach to ourselves (because it was a chilly spring morning) so there were no witnesses besides my assistant and I. And in the end, I got some GREAT photos of them laughing together afterwards so it actually worked out for some great photos. So now I always remind my subjects at our pre-session consultation to consider things like this when we're planning the photos. Who's ready for a beach session?!? 😊

✨STORY TIME ✨ Back in February, I received an inquiry from @lalacashon. Her brother, Pat had recently got engaged and she was wanting to gift him and her future sister-in-law, Jamie, a photo session with me. *cue the tears* 🥹 Lauren and I talked for weeks trying to come up with the best game plan. She knew of all of their favorite spots in downtown Norfolk! Fast forward a few months later and she shared the surprise with the future Mr. and Mrs! Pat, Jamie, and I all followed each other here on Instagram, exchanged numbers, and clicked instantly! *cue the tears AGAIN* 😩🥹 We had the BEST evening, stopping at all of their favorite places. So I have an announcement that might shock you 😲 Especially if we haven't talked in a couple years and you didn't see my Facebook Live video over the weekend 😲⁉️🫣 To make a long story short (I think I rambled for about 10 minutes, got chocked up a few times, off subject, etc.) the big announcement is that after photographing weddings for over 20 years - 📸 2024 is my LAST year photographing weddings 🥹 📸 It's bittersweet because I LOVE photographing wedding stories, every moment of them, but after 6 surgeries in less than 3 years my body just can't take the 10+ hours running around with cameras. I AM still photographing engagement sessions, elopements, and surprise proposals however, and am going to be doing a LOT of family sessions moving forward. So tell your friends that if they're looking for an AMAZING photographer that can capture great family moments on location or in my Newport News studio that I'm available.😊 Thank you shout out to over 400 wedding couples that supported me over the years - I've loved all of you and your families and will be forever thankful that I was able to celebrate with all of you 💕 And if you're a newer wedding photographer looking for a mentor, I'm more than happy to share my knowledge & experience to help others carry on the tradition of capturing wedding stories in the way that made me stand out. Hydrangeas are such a pretty flower!! One stem looks like a whole bouquet!! They are so softly sweet and delicate, and their colors are a range of light to deep - you just can’t go wrong with hydrangeas!
Many times, we try to take a few photos of the groom’s wedding day details, since many of them are so thoughtfully planned and executed! Having some photos of the groom’s details also looks great in an album spread!
