Meet Ruthie, a 12-week old lab/pit mix. We had our first session yesterday; first on our list is to stop her from mouthing. Our main focus is to teach her that she needs to use her nose (less painful to humans than teeth) to touch our hands instead of her teeth if she wants our attention. This is my first step to teaching "Touch." In the next 6 sessions, we will be focusing on biting/nipping, chewing, establishing boundaries, proper crate training, barking, drop it, leash communication, and potty training. . . . . . . . . #labmix #pitmix #puppiestakework #whosaidpuppiesareeasy #pitlabmix #labpitmix #traineveryday #loveyourself #normalheightsdogtrainer #bepatient #goodthingstaketime #sandiegodogs

When I teach how to use lease pressure to communicate with the dog it has very little to do with pulling or using force. This takes a lot of training. In the long run this sets you up for success for when your dogs do hit the end of the leash. They learn to come back to a certain position. #dogoftheday #dogwalkersofig #dogwalking #newfoundland #normalheightsdogtrainer #greatdane #husky #trainingtips #takeyourtime #goodthingsarecoming #loveyourdog

Welcome Rory, he is a 1.5-year-old Boxer. His owners contacted me, needing to control his reactivity aggression when he sees other dogs. This clip is from our second session. In the first session, we concentrated on a structured lifestyle, communication, and timing/rewards. Yesterday was his second session. He did remarkably, we went outside and worked on staying calm and attentive with us. Though he still has a lot of work ahead of him, I can't wait to see how we can teach him to be a more social and less impulsive guy. . . . . #sandiegodogtraining #sandiegodogtrainer #boxersofinstagram #boxer #boxerdogs #boxersarethebest #boxertraining #smallsteps #onedayatatime #normalheightsdogtrainer

When it comes to your life or your dog's behaviors, forget focusing solely on the goal. Anything you want to change permanently will need a new lifestyle. The focus needs to be your routine; changing one habit at a time will create an unwavering foundation. Take your time. . . . . #onedayatatime #lovetheprocess #takeyourtime #dothework #letsgetit #normalheightsdogtrainer #dogtraining #dogtraining #tips

For a long time I was known as the trainer that worked with large breeds and reactive dogs. Due to Covid I’ve had a large number of small size dogs and lots and lots of puppies. This has brought on a lot of fun new tactics and methods. Today I get to see Lucy again (I am currently working with 3 Lucys 🤷🏼‍♂️.) Her owner wants to work on engagement, walking, building her confidence and recall. In the second part of this clip you can see a bit of her figuring out how to get her food out of a cup, we will be making it a bit more challenging as we meet. This helps overcome her fear of objects and trust her owner when being asked to go near strange things. . . . . . . #smalldog #smalldogsofinstagram #dogtrainer #chihuahua #chihuhuamix #chihuhualife #terriermix #terriersofinstagram #terriersofig #sandiegodogsofinstagram #normalheights #normalheightsdogtrainer
