On winter outings, a good sleeping bag, hot water bottle and foot warmer Whiskey ❄️ And the famous American fix-everything tape must never be missing 😅 🚙 What is totally superfluous? Pans, one is enough to do anything 🍳, I don’t have a fridge! 🚙 Team shovel or team toilet? Team public toilets or in case of emergency the plastic bag. 🚙 Kitchen inside or outside? Another fabulous review . Hi....so thought i'd share an upgrade/mod experience with you all should you be looking to do similar work. Dougal the camper had a busy week. He had his Solar Pannel fitted by Scott at VTub in Wolverhampton and then I headed west to Welshpool to have midge nets fitted by Sarahs Mosquitto Nets. And yes they are Scottish midge proof! I decided to use Sarah Mosquitto Net's fitting service, and thank goodness I did. It was only £60 for fitting, and it took Sarah and husband Gareth just over 2 hours. During the fitting service I was consulted and given choices on what and how I would like the nets in situ. All I can say is what a fantastic bespoke service from beginning to end. Sarah is very good with her communications, knowledge of what options would be best suited and her incredible ability to make up the nets/screens made to measure. I was made most welcome on my arrival and was hugged on my departure. In the end I decided to have my VW T6 slidedoor, and tailgate screened and also purchased the driver and passenger door window nets ( each of these come in their own carry pouch made by Sarah...nice touch!). The nets/screens seem excellent quality and if looked after will last the Van's lifetime. I would describe the product and fitting service excellent value for money and whilst not as cheap as the tat off ebay will be an excellent investmemt. We started the project by drawing all of our ideas and visions before we started the renovation. The main goal was creating a camper that feels like a tiny home and not like a car. 🚙 3 fun facts: - It's small but the bed is yet 118 cm wide and 187 cm long when the sofa is converted into the bed - plenty of room for two adults. - The drawer under the bed contains all of our food and the bench have plenty of storage room as well. - The renovation took 8 - 9 full days. 🚙 What should not be missing? / What is totally superfluous? Just letting anyone out there is who is doing their own van conversion (who is not aware already) about an issue we had with the weight of the van. We thought the weight was ok as we used lightweight wood etc when doing the self build. But we took the van for an MOT and the mechanic noticed an issue. As you can see from the first photo the bumper is squashed and should be like the second photo, after we got the leaf springs replaced from single to double which gives us a 5 inches gap and improving the suspension. Wir suchten schon länger nach was kleinem feinen 🤗 da wir im Sommer immer etwas probleme mit Hitze haben,aufgrund fehlendem durchzug. And just like that, the van is finished.. apart from a few snagging jobs! It took 6 months longer than planned but it was definitely worth the wait. There’s so many little details that dad added which really elevated the conversion and we’re so chuffed with how it turned out! Mum even put bedding on and got some matching mugs ready for the reveal 😂 I can’t wait for summer trips 🚐 I knew dad would do an amazing job but the van has exceeded my expectations! In order to get our usual 8 hours of zzz's - we opted for a fixed bed and utilise underneath for storage along with with the ancillary equipment. We have managed to squeeze in an extra thick Queen size mattress.
