Comment mieux rémunérer les producteur.ices de musique joué.es par les DJs ? L’initiative Support The Sound tient peut-être la réponse. Partant du postulat que les producteur.ices ont été « marginalisé.es et sous-évalué.es » et que sans leur juste compensation « la vitalité et la pérennité de l’ensemble de l’industrie est menacée », neuf clubs et festivals internationaux (Basement, Bassiani, Dekmantel, Fuse, 6AM, Synthetik Minds, Vault Sessions, Wire Festival et Womb) lancent le projet Support The Sound. Cette initiative permettrait aux DJs, via la solution de redistribution Aslice, de partager un pourcentage de leur cachet (Aslice suggère 5%) directement avec les artistes qu’ils tracklistent dans leurs sets. Ces neuf lieux déclarent que « dès 2025, tous les DJs qui jouent à nos événements, résidents et non-résidents, seront invités à partager leurs playlists sur la plateforme », sans quoi ils ne seront plus programmé.es chez eux.
