In 2020, under pandemic restrictions, the photographic installation Self-portrait of a ship called Archive was created. There was a good reason for this: The work commemorated the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Arxiu del Port de Tarragona. SELF-PORTRAIT OF A SHIP CALLED ARCHIVE, 2023 In 2020 I had the opportunity to create the photographic installation "Self-portrait of a ship called Archive". I did it with great pleasure, at the invitation of the Archive of the Port of Tarragona, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of this institution. Now, to coincide with the centenary of the building in which it is housed, we have renewed the visual work with a new skin. It is a new layer applied to a gigantic rephotograph that occupies the viewer's entire field of vision and requires the whole body to be perceived. The new image incorporates the work that preceded it, but also reaches back in time to include old engravings, also preserved in the archive. But it comes very close to us. We have added colour snapshots taken at different times since the work was installed. All of these moments embrace the building of the Archive of the Port of Tarragona. The image contains many details. I invite you to look at it with your whole body, to discover what I have put in it and what has crept in, unnoticed, in this new skin that is attached to the wall of the Archive. A selection of five stereoviews of the photographic installation #VaixellArxiu. The work is made up of a mosaic of photographs from a hundred years ago. They are all taken during the remodeling works of the building that today houses @arxiuporttarragona, in the 1920s. The installation is an always incomplete self-portrait, which has been embraced for a year by the skin of the hause that guards the images that compose it. Behind the wall, there is much more inside. An infinity of documents that draw the history of the sea gate of the city of Tarragona. These 3D images add another layer to this chronicle. These are anaglyphs. So, to appreciate the depth effect, they must be observed with cyan and red glasses. 📌Avui fa 95 anys que @tgnajuntament decidí canviar el nom del carrer Orient pel de Josep Anselm Clavé, on es troba ubicat l’Arxiu. A la instal·lació #VaixellArxiu de @ricard_martinez que tenim a la façana de l'Arxiu des de fa uns mesos es pot apreciar (si es mira amb detall) les dues plaques dels dos noms: Oriente i Anselm Clavé. El carrer d’Orient pertanyia al districte tercer del barri setè de la ciutat de #Tarragona. Al carrer de la Pau del barri del Port encara es pot observar una d’aquestes antigues plaques. Avui descobrim nous detalls del #VaixellArxiu Arxiu a la instal·lació fotogràfica de @ricard_martinez "Autoretrat d'un vaixell anomenat arxiu" que es pot contemplar a la façana de l'Arxiu. Som-hi! Tenim un grup de treballadors davant de la façana que dona al carrer d'Anselm Clavé feta durant les obres de reforma de l'edifici de serveis de la Junta d'Obres del Port Tarragona l'any 1923. Tenim també altres grups de treballadors que hi apareixen i també una altra, on s'aprecia com es fa anar una corriola, possiblement, per a transportar al pis superior algun tipus d'element o material per a l'obra com ara totxanes o teules. Després de les obres de reforma de 1923 l'edifici es pot qualificar com a exemple de l'estil historicista (que pretenia recuperar elements de l'antiguitat clàssica). I un darrer detall. Al carrer d'Anselm Clavé sempre hi ha hagut la porta d'entrada principal de l'edifici, més una altra (on hi ha inscrita la data de la reforma en números romans) que a l'exterior sembla una porta, però que a l'interior és cega. Fa dies que no descobrim #DetallsVaixellArxiu i encara en resten molts a la instal·lació fotogràfica de @ricard_martinez "Autoretrat d'un vaixell anomenat arxiu" que des de fa quatre mesos es pot contemplar a la façana de l'Arxiu. Avui va de voreres i còdols! ➡️Quan passeu per la plaça dels Carros, a la banda on es troba l'edifici de l'Arxiu i també el del Ministeri de Foment fixeu-vos que la vorera està feta de còdols combinant els colors de pedra en blanc i negre. ➡️No se sap la data exacta en què es va construir aquesta original vorera. Ramon Aloguín en el seu llibre 'La plaça dels Carros' apunta que podria ser dels anys vint del segle XX, coincidint amb la construcció dels dos edificis, Ministeri i Junta d'Obres del Port Tarragona ➡️Sigui com sigui, el cert és que aquesta vorera singular feta amb còdols que formen estrelles hexagonals ha perdurat fins als nostres dies esdevenint un exemple tardà de l'ornamentació modernista de principis del segle XX. ➡️I és que aquest #VaixellArxiu amaga molts més detalls dels que a simple vista es pot esperar; de fet, totes les fotografies parlen, només cal saber-les llegir perquè ens expliquin tot allò que saben😉 Foto @quim_vendrell #DetallsVaixellArxiu #Tarragona #plaçadelscarros
