Samu's Blog - The Early Years When I was browsing through my archives (if you can even call it ‘browsing’ on the hard drive), I stumbled across an old blog. We all know that Samu is not only an excellent lyricist, but also very good at writing blogs. Especially when he puts a lot of emotion into it alongside his thoughts, reflecting his whole personality. The blog I found in my archive is exactly Samu's, from his ‘Early Years’. Some of you may know him and have followed him back then, but many of you probably don't. His very first blog entry was from 2004, December 2004 to be precise, so it is more than 19 years ago. At that time, we didn't even know who the hell Sunrise Avenue or Samu Haber were. Because a record company that wanted to sign the band - no way! I'd say that even he couldn't have imagined in his wildest dreams what the band's beginnings would become, even though he worked towards it - and damn hard at that. But anyway - I thought I'd share the old blog entries with you. This means that an entry, in other words a day, will appear regularly on my site. This might remind us of a lot of things that we have already forgotten. Some of it may already be familiar to us. QMUL Postgraduate Research Conference A couple of weeks ago, a PGR conference that a fellow QMUL PhD student and I had organised was held in @blocqmul. The whole process of this was really enjoyable and it went very well. The conference was a brilliant opportunity to meet other PhDs in our department, and to hear more about their exciting research. We were so delighted to have Julie Lobalzo Wright as our keynote speaker too! Her paper on Goldie Hawn and Barbra Streisand as Star auteurs was absolutely fabulous! We loved having an Early Career panel with fantastic speakers and advice/tips for us post-PhD too. I absolutely loved presenting on one of my PhD girls, Valerie Hobson too! 🌟 This was the first PGR conference and I hope it continues. I really enjoyed it!
