I’m starting to wonder how I managed without stitches on my pages in the past. The center bit is part of a stitched (and buttoned) snippet strip that I attached to a large paper clip. It was meant to clip sideways onto a page. But I didn’t like the way it sat on this particular page in my boho journal and it was way too late to take it apart. So I — hang on to your hat — hand whip stitched the long piece of the clip to the top edge of the paper. I know, right??? Today is my parent’s 70th wedding anniversary. Mom passed in 2015 and Dad is now 90. I just adore this wedding photo; the lyrics are from a Jimmie Rodger’s song from the ‘50s, which was one of their favorites; and the lace and floral ribbon thingy at the top right are from my own wedding. Today’s effort in my bricolage journal. I fully expect a standing ovation for having actually handstitched the button to the lace and then stitched the bits of the collage down to the bellyband. Of course, it would’ve been much simpler if I thought to do that BEFORE I had stapled the bellyband down (does Tim Holtz have a tiny DE-attacher???) Sigh. I had the bright idea to make a little paper bead to attach to the dangling threads, but my first two attempts resulted in the paper beads permanently glued to my skewer. Sigh. So then I tried to make a small fabric bead, which was slightly more successful. But when I tried to add it to my thread along with a metal bead I found in my stash, I discovered the thread was way too thin to tie a knot that would hold it so … the fabric bead I was so proud of rolled off the table and ended up under my unit where I’m sure the vacuum will eventually find it. I would’ve been relatively satisfied … if I hadn’t looked down and found I dripped gesso all down the front of my black T-shirt. Sigh.
