Going through the phone and realized I wanted to throw up a lil none baseball card post but hadn’t got to it yet… It was so cool to “ catch “ my closest Opening Day game a couple of weeks ago down in Baltimore. 2002 TOPPS JOSE CANSECO EXPOS PSA 10 .. So here it is, @josecanseco last MLB baseball card. With such a career of many highs and many lows, this card would depict career stats that would go down as possibly one of the most questionable line of #’s .. some argue that he came to the BIG’s already using and experimenting while others like myself say the opposite. A gifted athlete with the natural ways of being a professional athlete, but that’s me, a fan, a kid growing up seeing only the amazing power, the BIG League swag and the look. As I grew up and started to hear and see more, yea wasn’t part of the lore I wanted to believe or see, but it became part of who he was becoming. 1991 Topps Desert Shield #162 OZZIE CANSECO PSA 8 … Hit me one night to scoop up a Jose Canseco Desert Storm PSA slab, but ran into a few Ozzie’s first… so decided to scoop this one up as I was buying other stuff. I’ll get a 91’ Jose PSA 8 as well to match this one. What’s interesting here, under the plastic, against the card there are 2 “ eyelash “ sized pieces of plastics, guessing from the slab when it got snapped down. One piece actually moves. This is my 2nd PSA slab with “ foreign objects “ under the plastic. Now as a PC card and one with no significant value I’m not terribly bothered. Though this isn’t the first time I’ve seen something under there from them. Wonder if anyone else has experienced this as well from “ any sub “ company, have they left them little gifts as well OR finger prints against the card… ?? Well I couldn’t wait… took alot longer then expected … these packs were fun, brought me back to those days as a kid. Since these were the more expensive packs at the time, was a real treat to finally get one. And this one is by far my BIGGEST return in a long while now !! Can’t thank @kk_sportscards for their AMAZING customer service !!! As many of you know already, the experience with Kyle and his entire team is soooooo professional, so respectful and so passionate to the hobby and bringing us all nothing but the BEST of the BEST customer service. Having phone call conversations with Kolby down there, he walked me through and advised me how to handle this. Unfortunately I couldn’t grade it since Canseco slid the sharpie across “ Latin Stars “, I’m sure on accident, but I’m still super pumped to have it @psacard slabbed up now for a lifetime of protection. It was an exciting journey from start to finish with this card. I won’t take more time but just feel bad, I don’t remember if I bought this card back in ‘93 or if it was a “ pack pull “ .. either way it was sitting in my @josecanseco pc box over 30yrs and once I started this journey everything just kept falling in place . A late post but wanted to share this awesome, unexpected experience !! My lil princess is having one hell of a summer getting on BIG LEAGUE fields 🤣 last Saturday we got to game one of the Mets vs. Braves… was super HOT, so I ran up to grab us some waters. On my way back to our seats her uncle is calling me to tell me to come back to our seats quick, he’s got a surprise… so while they were sitting there, the Mets staff picked Sammie to go out on the field to say “ PLAY BALL “ to start the game, they gave her a @polarpete20 Tshirt and got her setup down there on the right field foul territory … she was so excited and kinda froze up but got it done !!! SUCH a proud dad moment and experience that we will never forget !!! And to top it off, @ronaldacunajr13 was leading off, just was waiting for her to say her part !!! The week before going to @nsccshow I had an amazing opportunity to take BP at the @marlins stadium. Hadn’t taken live BP on a field in over 10years, hit now and then in the cage when doing lessons. Bought some @sambatcorp a few months earlier to start the process of swinging wood again. It’s all was a success, didn’t get hurt, didn’t break my bat, hit some balls well, and goal for next year hit a few out !! This year was a bunch of “ warning track “ balls, but I wasn’t disappointed🤣… what was even more special that night, was having my family on the field. Throwing with my daughter and having her see what daddy used to do was just such an amazing feeling and so unexplainable. Having been around many dads back then with their kids around and in the clubhouse, this opportunity will def go down as one of my MOST FAVORITE baseball moments. 2 nights later we got to a game and she got to meet Billy the Marlin. I had scooped up these 2 Mascot cards off of eBay, they are from 2017, her birth year and that was a BP ball my buddy gave her … such a great 2 nights can’t thank my college buddy enough for setting this all up for us and a few other of us college teammates … No matter how old we get, the game will always be in our blood !!! #makingmemories #timeswetreasure #opportunityofalifetime #familyfirst #takingbp #marlinsbaseball #thekidinus #swingingforthefences #ac5cards
Late post but here are my pickups from @nsccshow … this was my 3rd year in a row going and still so much to learn! This show did not disappoint at any level. Card prices def were on the higher end, and stuff that I was looking at most times the tables were willing to cut some deals. The Munson cards will be shipped off to @sgcgrading which will finish off my #sgc Munson PC and I have a little project to display them. The Griffey’s had to scoop up for the PC along with that Jordan. Closest I’ll ever get for now to a RC sticker of his, haha, and the Tua’s first NFL card purchase and will def be looking to move those down the road. A bunch of “ signed catchers in gear “ and 2 1922 Carramel catchers cards will be in that #sgc sub stack as well. Again, was a great time, didn’t meet many this trip, legit tried to hit EVERY table there, so was locked in on following the floor. My BIGGEST and most exciting pickup that was totally unexpected was the Bill Dickey booklet out of /5… so pumped to add that piece !!
