Its a special month for us! 9 years ago we decided to become #bigislandhawaii women entrepreneurs! Launching a business of this nature came with so many lessons and only because of much encouragement and a whole lot of faith, we are still here! From a small weekly setup at our beloved Uncle Roberts famous Wednesday Night Market in Kalapana, we would start our journey with 5 signature fillings. If you had told us that our #anykinewontons would end up on the freezer shelves of locally owned stores, a lunchshop in Kona , a ramen shop in Hilo and 2 online markets, I would have said " IN MY DREAMS". We worked our way up to 3 signature Wonton Wagons and over 25 signature fillings prior to the pandemic. Those were some crazy times!!! Nowadays, we set boundaries, work from 1 #wontonwagon and our hearts are filled with gratitude everytime we are asked "hey, aren't you the wonton girls?" Another original fusion filling we created back in 2015 is our #smokedahicreamcheesewontons When it first appeared on our menu, it raised plenty eyebrows because this was before smoked ahi dip was even available in grocery stores around here. When living in Alaska, I fell in love with smoke salmon dip that my cousin made with fish he had caught. It was my inspiration for this wonton because of the abundance of ahi that our ocean provides us while living in paradise.
